In this case, it's not cheaper to keep her. LSU football is a business, this is bad for business.

I enjoy it when posters who have no idea what they’re talking about decide to post

If they were so broke, why are they paying a coach 9 million a year to suck arse and not fill a stadium?

I did not know the state government pays the coach’s salary. I always thought it was the Parish. Learn something new each day.

You’re naive if you think that the LSU football coach won’t be replaced. We can’t afford to not replace him. There would be a much greater negative financial impact to keeping him

Our great governor will just mandate mask forever, keep getting federal dollars and use the stash money.

It's private money. Has nothing to do with the state budget

Democratic Governor + Democratic president + Democratic congress + "Covid surge" + Hurricane in N. O. = $$$$$$$$

OP, you could not be any more wrong. The big time boosters, unlike you, understand that you should never throw good money after bad. They understand the long term costs of NOT making this change.

You have no idea how this works. Do you think “Louisiana“ is responsible for his buyout?

No worry, Pelosi will ear mark a few million in the infrastructure bill for her friend, JBE, for the buyout.

1. He will be fired FOR CAUSE. Go read his contract.
2. No coach receives his full buy out. They are typically significantly less. LINK

Bowl ban last season
Cregg firing this one
Unbecoming representative of the university. This is a fact.

Most coaches have standard language in their contracts mentioning that NCAA violations on their watch could cancel their current and future paychecks, potentially nullifying a high-dollar buyout. The interpretation of each coach’s contract is different, but it turns out that the right lawyers are willing to argue even the tiniest violations can trigger a voided buyout.

You won’t believe the penny-ante hall monitor violations that can save a university millions.

Dumb, small violations, with little to no direct involvement by the coach in question. Even violations found after a coach is fired without cause. Even minor violations submitted by the university itself after their own self-initiated investigation.
