Landry is selecting the coach now? That would be news to me. The Board of Supervisors has always had the final say so. They were the ones who hired Brian Kelly ultimately, albeit based on Woodward’s recommendation. There’s no reason for people to melt here but whatever.

In my defense I never said it came from the state. I just said I thought it came directly from LSU/the AD

Yeah sorry bud.

A retard used your post as a crutch for a stupid argument. You just got caught in the crossfire.

NY Times article was right. LSU was the top job in the current coaching carousel and then Jeff Landry happened...lol

I am glad we are getting all the airtime in national media this week.

if they was any doubt, I think, this pretty much just solidified that he won't be re-elected when he runs for governor again

Yes I’m sure every sports agent of top coaches out there is excited to hear the Louisiana Attorney General will read any contract they initiate. Lol

LSU athletics is one of the few things that is neither red nor blue.

This idiot is messing with the one thing 90% of the state agrees on

The taxpayers are responsible for paying off Kelly under the terms of the contract.

Kelly and Woodwards have same agent.

Only if the money wasn’t supplied by TAF, which it will be.

The people actually putting up the money will tell Landry and the AG to go frick themselves.

Hopefully so. I hope the "power brokers" call his arse on the carpet and have a come to Jesus meeting with this clown of a governor.

Landry said today if he can get reassurance that it won't under any circumstances fall on the taxpayers, than he doesn't care about the salary

I think it truly comes down to how much the boosters and TAF can pay

Why would they have concern? If it’s above board?

Sooo, he wants reassurances for a fake problem he made up in his head that has no basis in reality??

By that asinine interpretation the tax payers should have been paying him every year he was here, yet they haven’t.

Probably getting in the territory of the next coach being just an hourly temp employee anyways after all of this.

The taxpayers are responsible for paying Kelly off *if* (and only if) the athletic department goes under. Kelly’s buyout is $8.9 million/year for the next 6 years. LSU football generates $100m in revenue in $50m in expenses.. and that revenue will increase by $20-30 million over the next few years based on new media and sponsorship deals.

Taxpayers are also “responsible” for like $50 million in bond payments for the athletic department over the next 10 years. Does that mean the governor needs to get involved every time they build a new parking lot?

Maybe Jeff should take a look at his alma mater, who actually siphons off $16.5 million per year of taxpayer money to fund their athletic department, instead of worrying about an athletic department that contributes surplus revenue back to the university on a regular basis.
