Basketball is a fast moving sport on and off the court. Woodward made a tough call. He had his guy and timed his move to make sure every five star knows he is playing minutes next year if he comes to LSU. If our coach performs as expected, as good as ever will be here in three years or less. Wade was good, Brady was good, Brown was good but I want to have a great coach. I support the AD.

You are right. Rebuilding happens a lot faster than football

Just look at Texas Tech, all their players were transfers from non P5 schools, and they were a 3 seed.

They were only here to play basketball, the University meant nothing, just the name on the jersey.

NIL and the portal have refocused the AAU recruiting mantra of show me the money. Nothing more than Mercenaries.

Are you deaf blind and dumb.

five star

LSU won't sniff a 5 star in basketball until at least 2-3 years after their post season ban ends...which we don't even know how long that will be but most think it will be 2 yrs.

Losing the whole team is a huge blow....what real player wants to come in after that other than the guys that McMahon is pulling in from Murray St.

Losing the entire team and having almost the entire Murray State team come over says it all.

The players are playing for the coaches and not the schools.

The issue is that we just bent over and spread for the NCAA to ensure we won’t reach the post season even if we recruit the Dream Team in the next few seasons

I mean, In the long run, hopefully losing the entire team will mean nothing.

But right now yea, it kinda sucks. I mean, the ENTIRE team. That blows.

The coaches are these kids mentors. The coaches help develop them and get to the next level. When the school throws their coach to the wolves to save the football program, yea they are pissed about it and should be. Everybody always preaching about loyalty, these kids just should all of y’all what it looks like.

Definitely does...means the head coach had a whole roster of kids that were only in BR for the money

I know I am in the minority, but I don't even care if LSU has an entirely new roster.

Losing the whole team does mean something. We also lost three five star recruits and one 4 star. Three of them had signed their letter of intent.

In a few years when the NCAA does not even exist, or still exists with a shell of its over reaching power, we will see just how badly LSU got fricked over. It’s unreal to think the NCAA spent five years of time and resources just to nail down one guy. You can’t tell me that given the same amount of time and resources the NCAA could not have taken down multiple blue blood programs.

I keep hearing that basketball was served up to protect the football program. Does anybody have any evidence that Woody and Emmert had a back room handshake deal to make this happen, or is this conjecture of this board?

I will miss Will Wade and the program he was building. I also think Matt McMahon was a good hire given the circumstances and am optimistic about the long term prospects of our program. I’m just a little salty right now.

This. But having the portal will ease the pain. Look how well it worked for the football team after we were down to what like 28 scholarship guys.
