the flag for 1908 flew with the 1958 flag in the NE forever. I guess Saban took it down. I do not know. But it was there from the 70's through the 90's
it wasn’t there in the ‘90s.
I was still young for the games in 80’s i attended, so can’t say definitely on those.
i was in HS when Curley got tired wondering if we would ever add to the ONE flag from 1958.

I’m sure LSU will announce this soon if they are building the obvious 1908 plaque outside Tiger Stadium with the other 4 National Champion plaques. This is well deserved and should have been done years ago!

Doc Fenton was our first superstar! Hopefully LSU does the right thing and acknowledged his accomplishments

Doc Fenton was a superstar, once moved from end to QB he became the best or 2nd best player in college football in 1908.
Remember Carlisle has Jim Thorpe in 1908.
If you put a statue up of Cannon, Maravich, Shaq, there should be a Doc Fenton statue.
In the future there will be a Burrow statue, isn't time to remember the 08 team?
Clarence Smith died just a couple of weeks after the season, having been beaten by a bug on the trip to Ruston and Little Rock to play football. Clarence was voted by the student body and team as the next coach at LSU, before we got Wingard. Clarence was also going to be hired to teach at LSU, he taught in the Baton Rouge school system in 07. Once Clarence passed away I do wonder when Wingard bought the suit for Doc was it to escort Smith's body to Michigan and attend the funeral of Clarence?
There should have always been a memorial of some type to Clarence at LSU.

It is absurd that LSU does not claim this title. The NCAA officially recognizes the 1908 team as the national champion. It’s not like we’re acting like Bama claiming every insignificant fake news national title they can come up with!
I have faith in Scott Woodward to get this done!

Also helps that Harvard and Penn that year each had a tie and we did not.
It also helps their schedule was pretty lousy as well. Their claims are pretty weak, too.
Harvard only played four Division 1 schools and went 3-0-1 in those games. Penn played 8 majors, but didn't play a team with a winning record for the first half of the year, and went 3-0-1 versus good teams. It's important to note Penn didn't play Harvard or Yale, the two best teams in the Ivy.
LSU played Auburn, the best team in the South and din't play Vandy, the second best team, because Vandy refused to play LSU.
The best comp is that LSU is like 1983 BYU. None of the major schools have a great claim, so it strengthens the small school's claim. Also, LSU KILLED its schedule in a way Penn and Harvard didn't. The only points Auburn scored was because a fan knocked Doc Fenton unconscious with a cane and he fumbled in the end zone for a safety. LSU played the entire second half without its best player due to the fan attack.

If I remember correct from the play by play of the game Doc played the second half.
I have the account in my files somewhere.
Auburn did not have a strong offensive team, and could not stop our passing game, but calling a passing game is a reach as we only had a few passing attempts. But like Carlisle those 4-8 attempts a game made us one of the few passing teams in the nation.
The mid American teams like Penn and the eastern teams through of it as like cheating, that is why there was a 15 yard penalty for an incomplete pass.

If the NCAA recognizes us as a 1908 champ, then why shouldn't we?
Hmm...so it appears that we are the first non-North-East or Mid-West team to win a National title.
Am I missing anything on that?

we need to start scheduling the New Orleans Gym Club again.
