unfortunately, LSU is a great bargaining chip for some of these guys due to the potential to make comparable money
this kind of seems like a negotiating tactic to squeeze as much as possible out of Cleveland....maybe its legit but there always seems to be one that gets our hopes only to get the last-minute offer to splt.

Cleveland only has about 1.7 million left though, so there is no negotiation

I think he could also be using JUCO as a bargaining tool to get more out of LSU.
I just don't get his JUCO route, if he does that. I don't think his stock will improve playing at that level, but it damn sure could drop. I also don't think a JUCO will develop him like LSU's program will.
If he wanted to go pro so badly so quickly, he should've taken Cleveland's offer. Now he should go to college for 3 years and try to get better and be a top pick after his junior year.

Juno he will be a guaranteed starter and can go in the draft next year

Starting at a JUCO for 1 year to improve draft stock doesn't seem like a good plan. Weak competition. He does well? That's expected. He does not-so-well? He's screwed.

He won't get guaranteed anything, but the pressure is off to perform in year 1 because he'd have 3 years. Just take LSU's NIL money, develop into a better player, and get drafted after junior year.
Unless I'm missing something about some MLB factory JUCO or JUCO coach known for great development of pitchers. I just don't see his stock getting better.

It's not really about the competition these days. Whats important is showing he can take the ball each week, stay healthy and his trackman data (spin rate, IVB, etc)

This one really shouldn't get anyone's hopes up. Nobody expected him to come to LSU. There is just a bit of hope now, for the first time, but its not like if he ends up signing for less, or goes JUCO we are losing something we thought we would ever have.

That's not really how it works. If his stuff looks legit, then his stuff looks legit. You are probably right about the development at LSU being better, but LSU also includes 3 years of development. If he goes JUCO then he is looking to get his development from the MLB ASAP.

The slot value for the 58th pick this year was $1,487,200 and they had $1,700,000 to offer.

He has 2 chances to be drafted at a JUCO before ever getting that chance at LSU, this is why some kids choose this route and have found success with this in the past.
In the end, if he goes JUCO he clearly just wants the fastest path to the majors and a big contract possible. He can always go to a d1 school after a couple years trying at JUCO if he needs to. Seems like thats not the path he wants to take though (waiting 3 years again to be drafted).

Almost every talking LSU podcast head has said that if this kid lands at LSU, then he’s almost assuredly going to be somewhere in the starting rotation in year 1. He’s that good.

To me, JUCO doesn’t make sense here, I doubt one or even 2 years of JUCO makes him that much better.
So next year he would be in same or worse situation

I'm not saying it cant happen, but he will have to 100% earn it and probably because of the 3 returning guys struggle, not necessarily wins the job and takes it from them by the time winter practice ends.
It's pretty rare for a freshman pitcher to go wire to wire as a starter as they simply arent used to that kind of load over the course of a season (15+ starts) and many times get "Eased in" a lot of times. With 3 returning starters he would have to show consistent dominant performances in the fall and winter prior to the season to supplant Evans, Schmidt or Moore day 1 probably.
People always get these unrealistic expectations for pitchers especially in college from the get go. Remember when a lot of us thought Will Schmidt would dominate from day 1? He only started 6 games and pitched a total of 32.1 IP his freshman season.
Kade Anderson only threw 38.1 IP his freshman year here
Chase Shores 18.1 IP
Ty Floyd 24.1 IP
Landon Marceaux and Cole Henry back in 2019 were the last to really pitch a ton here freshman year. Still neither broke 60 IP that season. Henry had just 11 starts and Marceaux 14. Competition back then isnt nearly what is now, they were competing with Zack Hess, Eric Walker and a younger Ma'Khail Hilliard for starter innings just for comparison.
