Listening to O’s media conference today, this guy just gets it.

O said they scaled down the practices slightly when the staff provided numbers showing the game speed of the players were tailing off a little. Said he was provided with data that said multiple groups playing at or above the 20MPH mark against A&M. They scale up or down according to the data provided. He runs this program like a machine and uses many metrics to perform his job as CEO.
He has the strength and conditioning team keeping him well informed with data to see how well he and his coaches are doing with their practices each week. O will adjust practices and techniques by a little here and there accordingly to get the most of of them over the course of the season. Now this seems like a man who has his finger on the pulse of the program.
And as a side note.... O was asked about plans to secure Joe Brady. He does what O does by answering diplomatically and then laying out the truth. O said that he understands that top flight assistants deserve to have opportunities afforded to them and knows others will be coming for Joe. O then smugly says they have already addressed it and are on top of it. (Wording may be off, but I loved hearing what he said and the way he said it)

I remember he scaled down the practices right when he became the interim. The next week we played with more energy than we had since 2011

Bee Bee is a statistician, that rocks!

At this point in the year, LSU doesn't really need the physicality enforced like it does during spring/early-fall.
It's a well-oiled machine just implementing the gameplan week to week.
Better to be fresh.

They did play much more aggressive and fast against A&M. I hope it carries over.

Oh what a difference a year makes!

It was blatantly obvious the last 2 games that they are making changes that are working. The aTm game looked liked years past, the D was flying around. The D Line was hyper aggressive, they looked like an LSU DL.

Jack Marucci says he’s the smartest coach he’s ever been around when it comes to things like this

I have been impressed by Os apparent willingness to embrace progress, adapt, and set aside his own ego.

He also talks about recruiting a lot more then I hear other coaches do so it makes the kids feel like there already apart of the program and feel like there worth something

Man if you could send screenshots of this thread to the Tiger Rant of 2017...

O has brought something so seemingly simple to this program, but so many head coaches ever fail to acknowledge, and that is the collaboration of other ideas. LSU has quickly become one of the most hi-tech football programs I've ever seen...they're really doing some cutting-edge stuff!
The reason O is so transparent about everything in this program is because he is confident in his team and staff. O doesn't have the insecurities that other coaches have, and it shows in the way he presents the program. He's not afraid of people watching him or copying because he knows he's legit, and that is the mark of a champion.

So very true. If any team hasn’t caught the coach’s vision at this stage of the season, they’re done anyway.
It’s tweak time now.

Crazy what happens when you admit you don't know everything and actively seek out as many data points as you can possibly get.
Too many college coaches let their egos get in the way. The guys who are always willing to do things a new way will succeed. Coach O is proving that for himself right now.

Speaking of being fresh, has anybody heard of Kardell Thomas status? I thought I read something about him potentially being ready towards the end of the year but haven’t seen anyone bring his name up lately.
