Our press. It works well sometimes but we give up so many easy baskets and give lots of fouls because of it. At some point in the game, you've got to switch out of it if they are breaking it every time. At times today it let Missouri go on mini runs. I know it has giveth a lot, but is it worth it? 1/2 court trapping defense can have some of the same results yet not so many easy open looks.

Wade n Co have this crazy idea that they have to press the entire game.

We were up 20 and obviously the players are playing with less intensity but here we are... Still pressing, it doesn't work If every player is busting their arse on it.

Plus, why exert the energy up by 20. Save them legs.

It was not pressing to start the 2nd half that allowed the run. At the under 16:00 TO, we went back to pressing and got two straight turnovers and quite frankly never looked back.

Of course, I'm sure it was an accident that we did something to change our energy level since I've been told by all the basketball experts on this board that Wade is an awful in-game coach and NEVER makes adjustments.

Live and die with your identity bubba. Those great pressing teams from Kentucky and Arkansas were some of the worst defensive rebounding teams in the country but won titles anyway. Not saying we’re those teams but this style like any will give up some things.

I assumed our press wasn't as much about getting the quick turn over as it was about forcing the other team to use a third of their shot clock before they can set up and run an offense. It shortens the offensive set which helps when you run a defense that switches on every player and has a higher potential to get exposed by double screens.

I Love the Press, When its working but once the other team starts figuring it out & is bird dog-in a guy under their own basket & is either getting a dunk or a Wide arse Open 3 several possessions in a row - You should probably back off of it a bit yea?

We are statistically the most efficient defense in the US. Our press works well most of the time.

This is absolutely false. In fact he said during his show that they will play some match-up zone soon to keep out of foul trouble and make the press more effective.

We press too much against shitty halfcourt teams (what happened today) and don't press enough against other teams like Kentucky.

They need to let shitty teams derp around in the halfcourt and stop giving them easy baskets.

This team would be unbeatable if they could run “40 minutes of hell”. And they sorta did early on. It’s a main reason they were so successful earlier in the season when they were fresh. But when injuries mounted and they had to run an offense, it was a struggle. The press creates havoc and that’s where opportunities lie for a fast team like LSU. It might cost you at times, but you’re betting it helps more than hurts and creates a more athletic, fast paced game that benefits a team like the Tigers.
