Les was good enough to survive in the SEC West for a decade at the height of the conference’s dominance. He consistently recruited and staffed at an elite level, won a National Title, played for another and won two conference titles.

His refusal to adapt is a well-earned criticism and ultimately cost him his job. But some of you people need perspective.

Les’ resume at LSU is greater than or equal to any modern day SEC coach not named Nick Saban or Urban Meyer.

Well, when you secretly have a settlement with something like this, I think it's safe to say you usually only settle because something occured that you wouldn't want people to hear about (or you don't want others coming out and verifying it or talking about other similar experiences) .

When there is no validity at all, people tend to fight back with everything because they know there is nothing to stand on. And there are some quacks out there, so sometimes there is no validity at all.

This is actually not true. Settlement is just cheaper.

It should be the LSU Administration AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT that looks bad.

come on now. When it's just business, then yes, settlement is cheaper than litigation and often makes business sense.

But when it's a personal issue such as sexual harrassment, many accused, especially wealthy ones, will fight vigorously to protect their reputation and to discourage future accusations from others.

Settling to sweep it under the rug is often a bad look. And I'm not passing judgment on Miles or saying he's guilty - just talking about the broader issue of settling to make it go away.

Yes, settling can be much cheaper, but when someone is accused of something they know is absolutely false and there is no possible evidence of it happening out there, they usually don't settle when they have a lot of money and resources unless there are some things that they don't want coming to light.

Regardless of recruiting base he should be better than 3–18. Point is this guy was smoke and Mirrors at LSU both as a coach and in his personal life. He would have ended up with same fate at Michigan that he got at LSU and the one he is soon to get at Kansas.

There were rumors, never confirmed, circulating on the Michigan Wolverines
fan forum circa 2007 re: Miles’ sexual appetite and a certain influential faction there that was opposed to hiring him as HC.

Fighting something like this is more often like throwing blood in the water.

nope. If you’re innocent and have plenty of money, you fight to protect your reputation and deter other accusers who may only be after a payday.

Settling implies some level of guilt (not legally, but in the real world it does).

correct. He can barely speak a coherent sentence.

Was a great recruiter (in a state loaded with elite talent and no instate competition) but drastically underachieved with that talent.

And now showing his worth at Kansas, where he’s been horrific in two years. 3-18, 1-16 in conference.

This is possibly the most ignorant thing I have ever seen upvoted on the rant, and I have been here a while.
