LSU not crossing the 50 yard line in the game on 1-9-12 is a myth.

Below is from the ESPN Play-by-Play from the 1-9-2012 game.

Please note that LSU (Jefferson) rushed to the Alabama 32 yard line. It did not change the outcome of the game.

1st and 10 at 50

(7:53 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson rush for 18 yards to the Alab 32 for a 1ST down.
1st and 10 at ALA 32

(7:23 - 4th) Michael Ford rush for a loss of 3 yards to the Alab 35.
2nd and 13 at ALA 35

(6:56 - 4th) LSU penalty 5 yard False Start on Chris Faulk accepted.
2nd and 18 at ALA 40

(6:27 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson pass incomplete to Spencer Ware.
3rd and 18 at ALA 40

(6:21 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson pass incomplete to Jarvis Landry.
4th and 18 at ALA 40

(6:15 - 4th) Jordan Jefferson sacked by Dont'a Hightower for a loss of 10 yards, fumbled, forced by Dont'a Hightower, recovered by Alab Nick Gentry at the 50 yard line.

Yep.

Good coaches play to win the fricking game.

Les was playing not to lose or lose by as little as he could.

That's why he's unemployed.

And let’s remember Mett was left untested on the bench too, on 1/9/12.

Ten four and dead on. Saban made a change and he saved their butts. If Hurts is not pulled Dogs win going away.

That's why Les is fired and Saban is the greatest who's ever coached.

There is about a 98% chance he could have pulled Jefferson and still lost. That's not to say he shouldn't have pulled him. But, you seem to be insinuating that there was an in game move that could have made a difference. LSU was outplayed all night.

Absolutely true. Les was dumb as dirt that night. Middle school coaches wouldn't have been so stubborn and myopic. Les is now on the couch every Saturday where he belongs.

Bro you think Jarret fricking Lee is the same as the best dual threat prospect? Lmao

Dickweed, to be a "Dual Threat" you have to be able to do both Run and Pass. Jefferson was ok as a runner but couldn't pass a lick. He was No Threat at all against better than average defenses.

Put the crack pipe down.

My wife said last night “ He’s (Saban) doing just like that Peach Bowl we went to when we were in college.” She was right in her girly, half watching comment. Josh booty was sucking it up against Georgia Tech. Saban put in Rohan Davey, the team changed and we came back against all odds and won. Just saying this wasn’t the first time the trick had worked for him.

And the 2011 team was one of the top 3 teams to ever set foot in Tiger Stadium. Jarrett Lee took them to the big show, minus Jefferson’s running the option catching Bama offgaurd. On 1/9/12, Bama was ready for the option and Jefferson. It was completely idiotic of Miles to not TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!! Our stats were likely worse than Bamas(last night) at halftime. I sat in my seat and watched him ride Jefferson until the defense was gassed and the Oline gave up. I’m not saying Lee would have won it, but it would have made Bama adjust. I do believe Lee after halftime would have made it a competitive game. That’s the night the greatest LSU fan base died. Period.

he didn't just pull his veteran QB for the backup. his backup was a freshman!

like on 1/9/12, it was clearly the correct call to sub the QB.

I was fuming in the second half last night thinking about Les being so hard headed in the similar situation.

Had Tua gone in but lost the game, I would still applaud Saban for having the guts to at least try something when it was all on the line.

Les refused to even try. Had he put Lee in, and Lee threw 2 INTs, I would be disappointed in the loss but not still pissed about the lack of effort to win.

I had a feeling Saban would pull Hurts last night, and he DID!

It's deja vu all over again. Member Saban's first year at LSU? He yanked an ineffective Josh Booty at halftime, inserted Rohan Davey for the 2nd half, and the rest...is history.
