Honestly that’s the best way to stop the negative bullshite that is currently around the program. You say we are parting ways so we can move on from this and still let him finish the season for the 1 game it has left. Instead LSU wants to make people hate him more

I was okay with keeping McCoach last year because you have to give a coach a chance if for no other reason than to signal to the next guy that you’re going to stand behind them at not dump them at the first sign of trouble.

That no longer applies. He’s been given his chance and there’s no forward progression. Time for the next era.

Matt needs to do the right thing and resign and go back to being a nice mid major coach.
As an LSU Alumnus, I wanted to send him an email and tell him to resign, but LSUsports.net has no email listed for him on their Basketball page where all the Coaches and their Bio's are located.

Send Verge an email. He'll respond.

He actually responded to me with a phone number asking me to call if I'd like to discuss the situation.

LSU will never play for a NC in today’s market, particularly with the emphasis on other sports. Regardless of the coach - that is the reality some fans don’t see. Of course the coach needs to go but are we willing to take some hits in other places to become a tournament team that isn’t going anywhere?

I can’t imagine he wants to be here anymore. If he’s smart, he’ll negotiate a reduced lump sum buyout that allows him to get a chunk now and go look for his next job without an offset.

They aren't on the hook with a football coach for 90 million, who hasn't won one game at LSU. Ga Tech can afford to clip its BB coach.

It’s called being a man of high character,

He's doing the job he was hired for pretty much the same way he did it at his old job, it just doesn't work at this level.

There is a reason the job paid what it did at the time.

Trent at least had that.

No, he didn't. He left LSU for another job paying him the same with a six-year contract.

He couldn’t coach well enough here and he left on his own accord.

He was literally sought out by TCU in April of 2012. He had just signed an extension in August of 2011 at LSU that would have had him there until 2015. He left for the same paycheck with a 6-year guarantee. It was not some high character move; it was a cut-and-run move.

Why do you guys feel the need to make crap up? I just don't understand it. McMahon is in over his head and does not look like a very good coach right now, but he isn't dumb enough to leave money on the table.

“Arguably the worst poster”

A lot of stiff competition for that honor.

You think he showed up with no experience? Just a binder? We courted him he didn’t beg us to give him the job.

There’s no reason to hate the man. What did he do to anyone personally? Just because he lost a lot of games and we want a new direction doesn’t mean hate the guy. It’s still just sports.

I’m not sure anyone actually hates the man on a personal level. It is sports, most rational humans can separate sports from personal vendettas.

That being said, he is arguably the worst coach of all sports in modern LSU history. 17-55 SEC sums it up. I do not want him to be the coach for one more week much less another season. I understand the money situation but the PMAC will be even more empty next season. Extra revenue generated by a new hire will probably offset or even surpass the buyout (which is paid over 3 years). I am in the camp that we can’t afford not to fire him.

We didnt court him Lazy Fat Scott courted him because it was a lazy hire. Mcloser would have trouble making the LHSAA playoff tournament.
