Lane Kiffin told everyone it would take time

Before the season started. There are not enough really good players in this cycle to start with and that it would be a building process. He did not promise instant gratification that we all want, and to see this team get beat last night shows us why.
As of now if anyone thinks that LSU could be on the same field with either Alabama or Georgia you are not in reality. With the upcoming schedule left to play, it looks pretty bleak at the moment,

Its true and everyone is going to focus on money spent. And that is not really lanes fault. It is the fault of LSU's miss management for about 10 years prior.
I dont like losing but at least the games we lost game down to the last play. Still recorded as a loss but there are vastly improved things going on.
Sam is not it. Over spent on that kid. Turns it over way too much. Baker, never liked him. Some key players our that were absolute DOGS.
We will be ok. Just have to settle down this year. Replaced 42 on the roster and payed too much is probably the biggest issue. Running out of money and miss spent.

Be patient. He will get us there!

Anyone that had to be told by Lane that this was going to be a process is too stupid to understand anyway

I was thinking back to a press conference during fall camp. When he talked about not having enough quality depth pieces to switch out regularly.!!!

Is it 2022?

I guess we have to be more patient with our 1st year HC than Kentucky has to be with theirs

Well we can certainly pay another coach that doesnt coach at LSU if we want and see how that goes.

This game wasn’t lost because we lack players. I didn’t look at the stats, but I’m sure we dominated them. We made bad mistakes at bad times.

It was actually almost even.

It’s gonna take some time…
Nick Saban's first year as head coach at Alabama.
Overall record: 7–6

There is no time. There is only now. And the reality is: LSU paid about $150 million for 2026 that has a decent chance of being 6-6 at the end of the day.
Now, will 2027 be a little cheaper? Assuming no major buyouts? Sure. BK was a one off on this budget line (and frankly, I'm spitballing $150 million - it certainly can't be less than that, might be 10 to 20% higher because of stuff I haven't thought of/forgotten about).
But, a $120 million annual budget to go 8-4, 7-5, etc., simply isn't sustainable. The staff had a short clock. They missed on a starting QB (on paper, their choices looked good - I'll concede that). They failed to produce a SEC-quality starting offensive line. They failed in some key depth areas. Both offense and defense have played very inconsistently. Too inconsistently to make a playoff run (which, frankly, with the upheaval, chaos, expense, was the entire reason we did the 2025 shakeup).
And NOTHING has happened during this season to suggest significant improvement. Kiffin and Weis (if Weis stays another year) will HAVE to go find a starting QB or make one of the current ones into one before kickoff 2027. They will need 8 to 10 offensive linemen who can actually play against SEC defenses. Run blocking, pass blocking, the whole megillah.
They will need to replace what Whit Weeks can do with someone who can do it without being injured all the time. They will need to find/develop an edge to replace Princewill who will be in the NFL next year. Lockdown corners.
I assume that the easiest part will be to continue to find WRs and RBs who can function in their system. But, across the board, next year isn't a "development" year: it will be another big rebuild.
And every year after that because of the transfer/NIL/highest bidder era we're in now. And once you get the players, you have to put them in the best position to win. That's what we're supposedly paying this coaching staff for. A cynical person might suggest we've been taken. Scammed. Flimflammed. Bamboozled.

This...isn't...2007.
You cannot recruit the best HS players, coach them up and then reap the rewards 2 - 4 years from now. That...DOESN'T...happen...anymore.
It's like I'm talking to a wall on here.
That's why we hired The Portal King(tm).

I’m ok with that, but this isn’t the Lane we hired. Last year Lane goes for it on 4th and 1.

False.
LSU paid 150 million for a long term investment in its future.
This really isn’t hard to understand

You think LSU football is going to spend $120 million a year on coaches and players?
Gonna need to see your work there Ace.

I’d be a lot less upset with this loss if we had gone for the 4th and 1 and failed.
We had a chance to try and win that game by picking up a single yard and punted it away.
That doesn’t require patience.

Just the roster is $40 million plus. The staff is $25 million, easily.
Okay, so maybe $100 million, barring any major one off expenses (like firing an expensive coordinator.)
