Landry is trying to make sure the next one right and that LSU stops signing blank checks to the same circle of people. He is doing what real leadership does, calling it out before it costs everyone more in the long run
He doesn't care about that. He isn't very smart and didn't know what he was even talking about. He had to walk it back.
What are yall going to say when lsu hires another coach for a pretty big contract ?

turned LSU into a joke.
You’ve completely lost perspective on what’s important. This is what’s turned LSU into a joke:
- getting your shite pushed in losing by 31pts it in your own stadium at night agst your rival.
- Losing to inferior opponents.
- Not making the playoffs.
- Having at least one phase of the game ranked 100+ out of 136 the past four years.
- Hiring has-been coaches and paying them unjustifiable money.
- Having your AD being a central figure in the #1, #2 and #8 most expensive college football buyouts.
- Mismanaging the program requiring a dedicated booster to pay anywhere from 27-54mil of their own money to start to right the football ship.
That’s the real joke in this whole situation; I applaud Landry’s effort in playing a constructive role in fixing things and hopefully never put either a booster or the La taxpayer in this position again.

Everyone should be embarrassed by Landry’s approach whether you agree with him or not.

LSU has rapidly moved up the prestige ladder are higher education institutions. Rising above the shite show that is Louisiana. In just a few days Landry has eroded much of that progress. Unfortunately, there is some appearance that this is on purpose. Landry and his good ole boy buddies are jealous of LSU becoming more elite.

What were we thinking? You’re right

You don't burn the whole athletic program down mid football season.

He said a coach's salary is paid for with taxpayer money, and so was Kelly's buyout. None of that is true. Why would Landry spread misinformation like that? It seems that the more responsible thing for a dignified governor to do would be to set the record straight.

buyout will be paid by "self-generated athletics funds and private donors."
Only of private donors CHOOSE TO.
if they dont, the real legal burden falls on the state. And thats fact!
LOUISIANA is the liable party here, until it isn't. And so if LOUISIANA is cosigner for LSU, the governor's office will have the last say on the issue.
Get that thru your thick skulls.
These bad deals are exactly what we elected him for. Louisiana comes first...not some random half arse coach who gets to milk us for unearned $$, because Woodward can't find a decent coach. He can do his job and nominate whoever...and the big boys will make the final choice, period.

The reciprocal also being true kind of deflates your point ie anything Trump and libtards loose their collective shite. Even when its not remotely related to President Trump.

Wasn’t the governor pushing to have the coach fired? The coach wouldn’t have been fired without having donors lined up to pay the buyout so the technical liability is silly.

Brian Kelly was 44-6 his last 4 years at Notre Dame including 2 playoff appearances when it was 4 teams and was #5 when he left. But he didn’t win “anything” you say? Jimbo Fisher did win a National Title, if those aren’t “decent” coaches who the hell is?
There are no guarantees.

Landry governs a state that is last in all the good lists and first in all the bad lists. If Louisiana would ever claw itself out of the sewer we are all living in, it will take generations. I don't blame Landry, yes, his delivery sucked but his message was clear. There is nothing wrong with LSU football being as frugal as it is elite. We need to act responsibly with our money.

12 beers in, I’m not afraid to say much, but stone cold sober, I’m probably not going to air it out in public as governor.
