This is what's going on with Lance Heard IMO. Other schools have notice the embarrassment of riches LSU has in their offensive line. Another school(probably SEC school because they have watched a ton of tape because of film review when preparing to play LSU) has offered him a lot of money and guaranteed starting spot because tackle is going to be a position of need for said school next year. Its a good sales pitch because obviously there at two all american tackles in front of him for a least next year.

This is a problem for all parties involved because LSU going to have to decide to pay him. But if they do, it doesnt stop there. Whatever the number is, LSU is going to have to pay the other two starting tackles on the team that or more. This is all of sudden becoming very expensive. Lance Heard is basically deciding how much he loves LSU and believes in the process of just waiting your turn and being a high draft pick one day.

Hopefully everyone can come to agreement and Lance stays.

This era of CFB sucks.

A Player doesn’t start immediately and has predatory coaches back-channeling them to transfer.

Not saying it is the case here, but coaches say player representatives reach out to schools as well. Uncle Ronnie says he speaks for Jimmy and Jimmy wants 5,000 to get him to campus for a visit when he enters the portal after the season.

Renegotiating his NIL. If these kids want to get paid like adults, they should be held accountable like adults. Make them sign a contract.

And make them pay part are all of their “free scholarship” depending upon how much of that crap nil money they get. It’s a two way street, boys& girls, so buckle up and enjoy the ride and you’d better hope that the no good irs doesn’t start digging into your nil funds.

Just hope he doesn't end up at Alabama, UGA, Texas, or Ole Miss if LSU can't keep him around because he will be a good one.

Nah, kids with this mentality never work out because they don't put the work in.

Because it's not LSU or Kelly paying the players, frick it man...

let it play out...

I am done hearing about guys getting stupid kinds of money for riding the bench or never playing a down...

get out here in teh real world and pay taxes...raise a family who has to pay all kind of dough to put our sons and daughter through school and if we're lucky enough to have an extra 2 grand to come to a game, well lucky us!

the kids are out of control...

Say what you want about coach Kelly getting 10 million, he's got 35 years of working hard to get that kind of pay

we're talking about people who are not old enough to vote holding coaches out to dry "pay me or I walk"

if that was me, I'd say son, do what you need to do... you accepted a scholarship and you're getting money that millions before you didn't, and they made CFB great...and here you are with your hand out...I am the head coach not a bank,

you can't beat out Will Campbell, because he's great! - so he's the guy until injured or leaves for the NFL...

I think BK has told him what they are willing to offer and what their plan is for him and thats what hes mulling over. I dont think its over yet.

this is what happens when there are zero regulations and no accountability.

you are looking at it the wrong way. This is like you got your first job out of college and then you showed some promise and another job comes calling but with more money to get you to leave your existing job. The issue is there are no rules to any of this shite.

the kids are out of control...

exactly because they are fricking kids with no one to keep them in line.

agree.

I always think its more complicated to handle a situation with your own family. It easy to make decisions that dont directly effect you.

Or Will Campbell has got a year on you and hes going to the NFL after next year and then the spot is yours. Or with another year of development you could be even be better and beat him out.

Pretty soon highschool freshman will be collecting Checks. Should we start focusing on Jr High for pure football?

I know Lance personally, I have not spoke to him directly, but just spoke to his brother. From what I took from the conversation was that Lance wants to stay at LSU, but it sounds like some NIL promises haven’t come through. I look for LSU to make things right.

I wouldn't lie to a kid that way, no way in hell anyone is taking WC's spot.

Extortion is not going to work with Brian Kelly. This makes Lance Heard appear even more like an entitled brat who wants to get his way, or else. See ya Lance.

Even if Kelly's comments explain the situation, why would you not travel and play with your teammates?

Some of yall don’t realize it’s not always the athlete himself. Sure he’s an adult, but mom still has a lot of say so. Not saying that’s absolutely the case here, but can we not bash the kid until we know all the details. I know Lance loves being at LSU and this is not about being guaranteed a certain position.

this is not about entitlements. It is about capitalism and free market concepts. Apparantly, someone values Heard's services more that LSU values his services. This happens all the time in the real world. A competitor offer someone more more and responsibilty than their current employer, Employee
goes to current employer and presents offer and ask them to match offer and they will stay or no match and they leave. its up to LSU.

If he develops over the offseason and comes into fall better than Will, he absolutely should take over that spot.

Play the best.
