Why would they both say the same thing if the accident occurred in front of Lacy and not behind him? If it occurred in front of Lacy, no one would have noticed his vehicle.

This is the hole in Lacy's story. If this wreck happened in front of Lacy none of the people involved would even noticed the charger.

What the frick are you talking about? Show me the law that says a normal citizen must stop and render aid at a traffic crash.

a road with two lanes in each direction

Does this mean it was a four lane? Some people could read this as two lanes going West and two lanes going East.

Lacy is a bad seed and karma is a bitch.

What's your basis for saying this? Is it the "gun" celebration? Or is there some stuff about him that I don't know about?

except it explicitly states that he drove around the accident when it was safe to do so. Meaning, he then drove in front of everyone involved.

Not that I know what happened or believe the attorney. But that's not a hole in the story.

What is very worrysome to me regarding his attorneys response to the accident and lacys charges is the lack of the statement and/or use of some of some of the following phrases in his explanation of where things stand to their knowledge thus far... "We are confident that the facts in this case will come out in court, and when they are presented, they will do nothing but help to prove our client was not at fault and is falsely accused of his charges. There were witnesses to the accident whos accident reports will bolster our clients claim and position of being not guilty of the charges he is facing and also the lack of physical evidence proving he otherwise is at fault do not exist to our knowledge and from our investigation thus far." I know this isn't for official court proceedings and isn't on record for the proceedings but that would have sounded much better and given me more confidence in his chances at trial.

Failure to stop and render aid is also a crime which the lawyer just admitted. Not as bad as vehicular homicide but still a pretty bad look especially since a person in one of the vehicles died. May not have been anything he could have done and also if he stopped he may not be in this shite situation now.

It is illegal in Louisiana to fail to stop and render aid if you’re personally involved in an accident. That is what entails a hit and run. If what his lawyer is stating is true and he wasn’t personally involved in the accident and his car was neither hit nor hit anyone, that particular law can’t be applied in this instance.

The truth will come out. There's a police report for a reason, and a multitude of lawyers working on behalf of families and insurance companies.

I think the law you are speaking of is "duty to render aid"?

And that only applies if you were at fault, or in the wreck itself. Sounds like he wasn't. Who knows.

I’ll pretend he didn’t cause it if he takes care of the lives he ruined.

Totally wrong take on this, Beessnax. Regardless of guilt or innocence, your attorney should be the ONLY voice heard at this point in time.

Oh boy. Guess you've never had much of anything to lose, much less millions.

An attorney IS the only way to handle this unfortunate situation.

His statement refers to hit and run, Lacy never hit anyone and this possibly does not apply

if you hit someone and leave the scene this applies, a citizen must stop and render aid at the crash

LA Hwy 20 goes from being 2 lane in each direction, just expanded recently, wal Mart, Lowes ,etc., to one lane in each direction. That one lane area, which I drove daily for years, is a bitch to pass at all, much less safely.

The first report of the accident had the collision in the area past Thibodaux towards Chac Bay, one lane in each direction.

Lafourche DA is not going to charge a well known LSU football player with homicide without a thorough investigation.

This statement is for the prospective jury pool. Otherwise, as the defense, you don't let prosecution know what your case is.

If the attorneys versions is provable you go to the prosecution and negotiate a plea deal on failure to render aid, pay a fine and get ready for the NFL.

Obviously I've not spoken to the defendant but that statement from the attorney seems problematic at best. It is one thing to say your client is innocent but to lay out facts and lock in defendants position is questionable. If Lacy testifies the prospect of being impeached by your own attorney becomes possible. DA might put a trial subpoena on the attorney.

For those asking, this is the stretch of Hwy 20 where it happened.

I've never heard of a no passing zone on a four lane road.

"two lanes In each direction' certainly sounds like a four-lane highway to me. But that makes it a bit confusing when the attorney says he returned to his own lane after passing cars and therefore didn't cause the accident.
