KY 2nd half adjustments: from 23 points to 48 points

Coach Cal more than likely told his group of young men to just "TAKE IT TO THE HOOP!" LSU had no answer. WE are so "soft" in the middle. Kentucky had clear lanes to the basket entire 2nd half. LSU has yet to learn how to take a charge. Pinson tried miserably in a half-arse effort. Embarrassing! S.O.S. game after game. You watch ANY HS basketball game and you will see multiple charge calls for both teams. Simply doesn't happen w LSU. Taking a charge is the ONLY way to stop the bullying by our opponents when they take it to the basket regardless of if there is a man in front of them or not. Reid ain't blocking any shots. Great coaching by the other team. Props to them.

That’s because Wade is soft and clueless

We’ve been pretty good st drawing charges in Wade’s tenure. We had so many guys in foul trouble that it wasn’t a feasible tactic especially in Rupp Arena. Just like the South Carolina game we got off to a near perfect start and failed to maintain it

We've given up a ton of points in the 2nd half in every game recently.
Doesnt matter if we give up 22 or 36 in the 1st half, expect a 40+ point 2nd half and whatever sizeable lead we build to evaporate in the 2nd half

Everyone was in foul trouble to start the 2nd half. With the whistle happy refs, we'd have been called for blocking fouls.
Didn't the announcer literally say "Pinson was just bulldozed on that play" when the UK player dropped his shoulder into Pinson? No call.

I’m willing to bet you’d see a ton of block calls against LSU.

Op might have a point (and could redirect frustration at what im about to say) if our players could commit slightly less stupid fouls. Yes the refs were horrible but for example Eason’s 4th foul…just a dumb foul especially when you have 3.

Wade's team is just to thin this year and the talent level is down.
He needs to fix the issue.

It’s impossible to play D when you get called for a foul when you breathe on someone

This is true, but if there weren't so many bull shite fouls called earlier the dumb fouls wouldn't matter as much.

It was disappointing how poorly we blocked out on Kentucky's end after missed shots. They got a ton of put backs.

The difference in the second half was LSU wasn't making shite, if LSU can't set the defense they tend to struggle.

The adjustment was using a ghost screen to attack LSU's switching defense. It allowed Kentucky to get downhill and get some easy looks early in the second half. All it takes for a good team is for them to see that ball go in a few times and things can change quickly. Every defense has weaknesses and the ghost screen action hurt us badly last night.

Or the players need to make the gimmes

Wade had a great plan to use Pinson to exploit UK being without Washington and Wheeler. With foul trouble, the second half was going to be a shootout no matter what Wade did. Eason just had a shite game and you can’t have your leading scorer have a shite game on the road against UK.

FIFY
When your team desperately needs you on the floor, you don’t waste a foul (your second) on a player who is about to dunk the ball with 6:00 left in the first half and you have an 8 point lead. Eason fouled him to stop the easy bucket, which put him on the bench the final 6 minutes of the half.
The fourth foul you covered. But the 5th foul came about 20 seconds after he entered the game with 4 fouls. He was trailing a guy going to the goal and he tried to block the shot from behind. The ref told him “why don’t you just go have a seat over there for the rest of the night.”

Wade has said himself that he hates Charges and does not coach his team to take charges. His theory is that instead of taking the charge you should be better with your feet and be in better position on D!

Or maybe it was incredible how those Kentucky players climbing on the backs of LSU players or flinging them to the floor were invisible to the officials.
You could say Kentucky legitimately scored 30, maybe 34 points and the officials either directly or indirectly were complicit in the rest of the points.
