MBB: $6m revenue, $9.9m expenses
WBB: $4.5m revenue, $8 million expenses

So by looking at that they should shite can the Football program because it's the biggest single revenue loser.

They did.

Which would put her making more than Will fricking Wade, in a sport that does produce revenue.

How many nattys has Wade won? He has more potential NCAA violations looming than titles in hand.

If shes open to it, SW needs to make this happen, and let her hire who she wants as her coach in waiting, hands down!! It's time SW starts making these moves

She’s not leaving Baylor, but even if she came to LSU for only 3 or 4 years, she’d put the program back on the map.

That is true, but if they are going to show a WBB on TV to get that Revenue, you are going to put a team that is winning in TV. No one will watch two crappy WBB teams play. But you will get some people watching a great team play. A great WBB game like LSU vs Tenn in the final four runs most likely had higher tv ratings than anything the WNBA sees. I know that doesn't say much, but if you are going to get tv money, you want as high as you can get. Winning puts you on tv more.

Tv revenue comes from contracts the networks have with the conferences and ncaa, not the individual teams.

Like, willing to take a pay cut to move on or back? That's what it would take for her to come to LSU. This thread is gold.

Wrong. They averaged 7,000 attendance during that run. The only game close to selling out was Tennessee and even then they ran every promotion to Pack the PMAC.

And a substantial number of those 7000 average fans got in with very cheap or free tickets. Again, not producing revenue.

And yet there will be people losing their minds when Mulkey isn't hired, and using it as a reason to say with Woodward is terrible. I'd be more pissed off if we hired an expensive coach for women's bball.

Save that money up for a good baseball hire. You know, a sport that actually makes money and people care about.

Ok lets go further. Should they get rid of all sports because they don't make money at UCONN? If that's the only reason to have athletics to make money then there shouldn't be but about 25 or so schools to even have programs then. Sometimes you do things just for the competition.

Did they ask her who Kramer's mom is?

Don't answer that. I'll show myself out.

. . . won't even watch a wbb on tv much less attend one. Maybe tune in for the championship game if it's convenient.

Irrelevant to Kim’s sustained success at Baylor.

The same people screaming to hire Mulkey, who would command most likely a record setting contract to pry away from Baylor,

You gotta pay to play. You want to compete with the best? You have to first get the best.

wasn't that way when Sue Gunter had them as a top power. Hell the women were drawing more than the men sometimes.

Wrong, we have always lost money on WBB. It was less under Sue because costs were lower, but we have never taken in near enough in revenues to offset the higher and higher costs.

And yes sometimes the women out drew the men, but tickets were way cheaper. There were giveaways. And the biggest factor by far is there is no TV revenue. The women’s tourney doesn’t in pay.

We need to hire the WBB version of Beth Torina and let her rip.

I'm not talking about a couple Final Four games or the NC game. Of course those are televised and some people will watch.

I'm talking about a TV contract for multiples years, televising multiple games every week. That's where the money can get big, as long as the ratings are good.

WBB doesn't do that (I guess maybe the SEC Network televises a few games), but nobody watches. Sorry, that's just the truth.

It's mainly just football and men's basketball that drive revenue. And most of that is from football.

All true, but that doesn’t mean you go stupid either.
If all you guys saying hire Mulkey actually went to the games and put down 10-15 dollars per ticket and watched WBB on TV and donated to WBB then maybe I’d say differently, but you never have.
It would be crazy to spend two million a year on a WBB coach. That’s the same kind of thinking that led to PM getting 1.3 million a year and he doesn’t lose money. It’s bad business and it’s not good for sports.

sure, universities have many (or most) sports just for the competition, since nearly all college sports are money-losers.

The question is should we pay astronomical coaching salaries in those money-losing sports?

She's exactly the coach we need... Woodward needs to find out how much she wants, and go get her.

She's the best women's basketball coach out there and she's an immediate game-changer for the women's program.

flew a charter many moons ago, 727 to take the UT wbb team from Austin to Ruston(had to land at MLU,) for a regional at LaTech, was wondering if their revenues for the entire season could pay for that charter without subsidies, highly doubted it
