I was talking about years down the road, not now.

I think Mulkey belongs on that list. So it’s hard to see it as a mistake for her. May be difficult, but won’t be a mistake.
I agree. Mulkey is on that list. The “mistake” potential as I see it is not about basketball. It’s about off court handling of issues that obviously LSU has chosen to cower to and take the side of the fake, leftist narratives promoted by BLM and SJWs. Kim’s is MAGA as frick and plays no games with this nonsense. She made it clear to her players at Baylor the political nonsense would not have a place in her program.
This will be a problem at LSU. They trip over themselves to bow to the woke crowd. Mulkey does not.

Glad your proud of the transition of LSU Athletics to political leftism. I’m not.

For the love of God, please leave the political crap out of this thread
Posted on 4/25/21 at 4:15 pm to CDawson
I'm proud to not have a one track mind that isn't focused on seeing politics in everything, while simultaneously complaining about other people doing that. Be honest, what percentage of your posts on the Rant contain the words woke, leftist, or SJW? Like 90%?

The flip side of that is, being a woman, she can say things a man would get in hot water over. She stood her ground where a male coach would at minimum have had to apologize. She can play bad cop to the administration's good cop.

Holy crap, if this IS true, it makes a bigger statement beyond just W’s.
LSU has a general brand problem because of the Title IX issues, and this would be a big lift.
You/we may get miffed at some stuff he does, but you can’t say he’s not a heck of a salesperson. He’s one of the best in the country.

So many people just don't see the true picture. Kim Mulkey would not have left Baylor for any other job, professional or college. She gets to return home and close out her incredible career with the people she grew up with and her momma is right down the road.
Its not about money or the program , although both are a positive. She will be paid what a successful coach with her credentials is worth. She is not inheriting a dumpster fire of a program. Nikki Fargas did not achieve the level of success many expected and LSU has not returned to the elite level it once held. It can be argued the program is in the next level of programs. Mulkey will elevate the program to the level where it will again be an upper echelon program.
This will be an electric positive story for LSU and its beleagured and embattled athletic program. Its a huge step forward and we need to support it and quit demeaning the relevance of women's sports and whether it produces revenue or not. Title IX demands these women's sports and LSU should make a commitment to excellence in every hire. Every positive story in the future will make the negativity of the past few months more of a distant memory.

Next season, if Aifuwa and Pointer return, she can fill in some gaps with transfers and they can be ok next season. But the season after is a big rebuild. Transfers do make it a much easier job to pull off though.

I would be surprised if Pointer returned now that her aunt is gone. I hope she does but not expecting it.

I don't know. UGA would seem like her most natural transferring spot and seems like Baylor has eyes on their coach.

I think she might stay. I honestly think she will thrive under Kim
She’s a competitor, if Kim gets a couple big transfers I think LSU could make some noise next year (not expecting to win SEC)

Can’t see Joni leaving UGA. They just gave her a huge contract. We’ll see. Why wouldn’t Pointer just go to WNBA? Maybe her aunt will draft her to Vegas.

It's 850K. Baylor could offer double that and still be saving a bunch.

Draft was a couple weeks ago. I assume it's too late for a college player to enter their FA pool. Overseas is an option but most of their leagues start fall/winter.

Thanks for posting WT.
If true, BU grads I know won’t be too happy, but’ll they’ll get a good coach.
Payback for them stealing Aranda.
