By now, most of you are (or may not be) aware that Kim Mulkey will be announced as LSU’s next Women’s basketball coach tomorrow. Most of you don’t know the real story though. Kim has nothing but love and respect for Baylor and the City of Waco. Mack Rhodes and Linda Livingstone have been very professional in their dealings with Kim and likewise Kim as been very professional and upfront with them. False allegations have been made that Kim and Baylor staff had heated conversations and meetings and someone even alleged that Kim demanded that the new basketball court be named after her. Nothing could be further from the truth. Kim had a very good, honest hour long discussion with the Baylor AD and there were no negotiations or demands, just two professionals speaking from their heart. Any other statements or posts to the contrary are inaccurate. Kim made the choice to return to Louisiana, her home state, and help resurrect the Women’s Basketball program and shine a light on LSU and all of its sports programs. Waco and Baylor will always have (and will always thank her for) the memories she created here. Kim will be a great asset and ambassador for LSU and to the State of Louisiana. Its time for LSU fans to Boot Up for Kim and the LSU Women's basketball team. I promise, you will not be disappointed.

Oh my. That would be a mistake for Kim and a coup for LSU.

Y'all? I am LSU tired and true. Not sure who Baylor will hire. They have a great program and great resources. I am sure it will be a top notch coach.

Baylor seems to be good people. I'm glad to get Kim but I won't gloat about it.

Their are certain coaches that will win in college athletics regardless of where they go just off name recognition. Nick Saban, Coach K, Urban Meyer if he was still around, among a few others. I think Mulkey belongs on that list. So it’s hard to see it as a mistake for her. May be difficult, but won’t be a mistake.

Just ignore him. He just spends all day whining about LSU being woke.

I have no idea who this Nick Dias guy is, but he is saying that media people with sources in the athletic department are saying that she's coming for less money than she made at Baylor.

LINK

IF that's true, could it be possible that Woodward is promising her the AD job if he does get to be president? I just can't imagine why she would leave for a pay cut.

I bet he is promising that her daughter takes over as head coach when she eventually retires.

I’ve seen that rumored, if it’s true I would say it’s because she’s not getting any younger, has won a ton of basketball games, made a lot of money, and is getting to come “home” and restore a program at a University she loves. As silly as it sounds, maybe it’s not about money for her anymore.

That's interesting and would probably make more sense.

Kim would be a hell of an AD but it's really a step down from being one of the highest profile coaches in the country. Anyway he's not on the published list of candidates

Maybe she gets to coach the men's team too for Wade's salary?

It's not really all that silly. I said in another thread the other day that she may just be bored and wants a new challenge.
