This is a negotiating position. They will come up with the money in the 11th hour and he will sign.

I doubt he's coming back, but it wouldn't surprise me. He turned down a good bit of money coming out of hs and still has leverage next year. But the orioles are commited to building their system so they'll do everything they can to sign him

Does anybody know when he's getting out of the neck brace? He still had it on in some pics on LSUsports last week.

He got out of his neck brace on July 5th. Got this email from a friend of mine.

"Good news. Chris is out of his neck brace as of today (July 5th). He can start running and swinging a bat. "

It would be great if he comes back. That show's great character.

And to the poster that said that it would be "idiotic" if he came back, stop being a fan and die in a fire!

Awe skeet skeet. This is outstanding news. 4th overall pick coming back to win some more games for the tigers. That's LSU right there.

This article really sucks. I had absolutely no hope he was coming back. Now I'm just gonna get disappointed again.

If Scott Boras is his adviser, then this is ALL Scott Boras' doings. KG is just doing as he was advised to do by Boras. Get off the kid's back. Boras is one of the biggest pricks in the agent field & that is saying a lot. He'll do literally almost anything to get his client signed/his commission. But he is good for a reason: his way works.

Although I don't believe he will return, I don't see it as far fetched as some make it out to be. Say he gets 4.5 million over 4-5 years. His first year he will not take home THAT much money. He gets drafted just as high or higher next year to a club that throws the checkbook at him. This is not a high school kid that has to wait 3 years to get his money. He is only missing out on 1 years pay, which he can make up if his next deal is right. There is also injury insurance these days for returning college athletes that will probably pay more than his first year salary anyway.

Like I said, I don't think he's coming back but I wouldn't bet my house on it.

I think Gausman might not sign for three reasons…

ONE. It’s the Orioles. They could screw up anything.

TWO. It’s Boras. He plays hard ball. Remember JD Drew sitting out a whole year out of FSU? Boras don’t care about your slot, and he also has a history with the Orioles, ie – not signing with them.

THREE. Gausman is a sophomore. He can go back to school, get drafted next year and STILL have leverage.

He made them statements to get more money. No way he comes back.

Would be awesome though. Automatic win on Friday nights.

Don't disagree really with any of that, but honestly, who knows what could happen in 2013. Hopefully Team Gausman will work something out with Baltimore and at the very least he'll have some guaranteed money to take care of him forever.
