nah. I understand fans. I'm a huge hoops fan. But there are some who believe the baseball program can do no wrong. I won't lie man. I was into the postseason this season. I was pissed when we lost to State but I was infuriated when we lost to Stony Brook. People were like "man they were a better team than LSU". I have a problem when some no name school is supposedly a better team than us.

They were better than a ton of teams....but the talent problem was one we all knew about for a year or so

yeah... man, go be honest, I wad meh on our offense like everyone else but the biggest let down was how unathletic our OF was. Fields was the best for sure and he wouldn't see a minute over Mahtook/Landry/Mitchell. Edward and Foster were pretty MEH and Rhymes was just awful out there. Sure he made the routine plays but that's it.

An athletic outfield is one problem we shouldn't have to worry much about next year with the recruits coming in

I'm sure you know more than me. I dunno if Arby was really given the boot but if so, I don't see why over guys like Foster, Yocum, and maybe even Edward.

I don't know if Arby got the boot yet, but I'd be surprised if he were playing baseball for LSU next year. Yocom, I wouldn't expect back either. I think Foster will stay though, he has room for improvement.

Has to make his return plausible to max money

Would love to have him back, but hard to root for it when it doesn't seem to make sense for him.

I look forward to maybe Sciambra stepping in again. It should be wide the frick open. I'd love it if Katz cut his K's in half.

Does anybody know when he's getting out of the neck brace? He still had it on in some pics on LSUsports last week.

This thread isnt't Gausman's fault...idiots are completely taking his quotes out of context, especially the writer of the article.

I understand the business end of it but the way he talks gets our hopes up. I don't like our fanbase being used as a negotiating chip. But I know the boxtards will support what any LSU baseball player does..

I don't support him in this posturing but I don't knock him either.

He was great for LSU and if he can leverage his legacy here for more money now, more power to him.

As long as he doesn't personally commit to returning, I have no problem.

Even if he returned, next years team is not likely to be any better than last years overachieving team. I don't see anything pointing to an LSU championship in 2013

SEC schedule helps out, most of the tough matchups are in Alex Box. Our two best hitters returning, a pretty solid incoming class, and we still have Alan Dunn.

ETA: in no way am I guaranteeing a championship or a CWS appearance, but we'll be a contender.

We should def make it back to a super regional next year, at a minimum. Our hitting will be a stength...our frontline pitching will be the question

I hope you are right....I believe if we have to depend on Rhymes to hit .420 again....well lets just say the law of averages is not in our favor.

He is clearly using this as leverage to try and up his payday. No way he steps foot in Alex box again to pitch in a tiger uniform. Can't get better than first pitcher taken.

Orioles continue to negotiate with No. 4 overall pick Kevin Gausman

quote:

UPDATE: The Times-Picayune has backtracked from their original story. It now says that Gausman is “seriously considering” a return to LSU. Meanwhile, Aaron Fitt of Baseball America passes along this statement from LSU coach Paul Mainieri:

Kevin is still in negotiations…any reports portraying his return to LSU as definite are premature.

Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun was told by Orioles scouting director Gary Rajsich that the two sides are still talking and are “making progress.”

ETA:
Mainieri says talks of Gausman returning to LSU 'premature' - WWLTV

quote:

Kevin is still in negotiations with the Orioles, and any reports portraying his return to LSU as definite are premature," Mainieri said in a released statement. "This is a monumental decision in Kevin’s life, and as much as we want him back with us, we also want him to do what is in his best interest."
