I see his stock actually going down if he returns next year as a more likely possibility than his stock going up. He gets hurt or has a bad couple of outings and he could drop even farther in the draft.

This. There is soooo much more likely to end up in a worse spot after another year. No. 1 pitcher and No. 4 pick? Yeah, take the money, no question.

He made them statements to get more money. No way he comes back.

Would be awesome though. Automatic win on Friday nights.

I agree with most that this is using leverage to get a better contract and he'll sign near the last minute like Mikie Mahtook did.

But I'm not so cynical to think this has no shot of being genuine. Yes that is a lot of money and most of us couldn't turn it down, but it isn't all about money to everyone. He will never in his life have another shot to play in and win the CWS if he leaves...that's an accomplishment I'd love to have on the resume. He could be a better version of Louis Coleman on a potential CWS title team.

Come on man, you are too smart for this. Don't let your Oriole fandom steer you in the wrong direction. Not even the Orioles can screw this up. Its automatic, Gausman is done at LSU.

I've found over the past 20 years that, no, there is nothing the O's can't screw up. And you'll never go broke betting against their stupidity.

I WANT him to sign with the Orioles. I'm not optimistic at all. Nothing about being an Orioles fan has lead me to believe I should be.

I understand the business end of it but the way he talks gets our hopes up. I don't like our fanbase being used as a negotiating chip.

Why? Because it hurts your feelings?

There is no actual harm done to the program by doing this. In fact, you could make a pretty good argument that this could be used as a recruiting tool showing that a threat to stay at LSU pays off during negotiations.

I have absolutely no problem with Gausman using LSU to get more money. I'd put his chances at returning at about .05%.

You should think about going through some form of counseling.

Even if KG were to return, I don't think it would get LSU over the hump. We are still gonna see a lot of poor hitting and coaching this year.

Automatic wins every Friday. LSU would easily be ranked #1

LSU is returning it's 3 and 4 hole hitters and JJ should improve along with the others incoming..

its just how baseball goes, couple of down years then back on top

the nice thing is that our down years still produce sec championships and super regional appearances
