So he coached as a Co-DC for Kelly and then was on Notre Dame's staff are 2020 when Kelly needed a new DC and instead of promoting him to DC Kelly went out and got Freeman. Kelly hiring him 3 times says a lot, but so does going outside the program to find a DC (Freeman). Cooks will not be DC here any time soon.

He wasn’t fired. The now-fired HC (Matt Wells) brought in Orlando as DC and he brought his own secondary guy.
