White has been a head coach for 6 years. Just compare the last 6 years. That's a more than fair comparison. 3 NCAA tournaments vs 1.

I think that's fair, but the masses here are more intrigued by younger coaches who have accomplished much less than Davis for whatever reason. Lots of opinions about who the "next big star" might be based on assumptions rather than results. If Davis could do at LSU what he's done the last several years at MTSU, I'd be fine with that.

No I didn't. I said his accomplishments were better.

Only time can tell what is a good hire.

Wade would be a home run hire. A winner and a young coach to build your program for a long time.

What if he did what he did his first TEN seasons?

Twisting what i said is no different than conceding you have no counter point.

31-4 in basically the sun belt. If you're going to ignore 19 years and hang your hat on 1 season it shows where your head is.

Upgrade from Jones, but this would be an extremely underwhelming hire.

Well, I generally put more emphasis on present day outcomes and trends, but I hear you. I don't know that he's the best candidate, but I think he's a good coach who seems highly regarded outside this board. Granted, basketball people aren't as knowledgeable as the rant, so there are definitely reasons to be skeptical.

Bottom line, I think he gets a lot of negativity here and it's largely unfounded. As I said, a lot of you seem to be infatuated with younger coaches who have accomplished less.

Yes he did but look at the whole body of work. The past two years are all of his success over 20 years. That's has a little more to do with a certain group of players more than the coach. He's hit a lucky group of kids before they were there and once they're gone he'll be back to his normal results. And you want that to happen in Baton Rouge?

The same people arguing that he is impressive because of 3 tourneys in a "one bid conference" turn around and tout his record in said one bid conference. The only reason the conference doesn't get more bids is because it is a weak conference.

Let's hope not. I liked it when LSU was a tournament regular.

All that could be said about any mid major.

And it's possible to recognize his accomplishments and still not want him as LSU's coach.

That's where I'm at.

The guy has had an incredible 6 year run, considering where he's at.

Kermit is a good coach, but after what we went through with the football coach search and hire all eyes are on Alleva to make a home run hire. I will be upset if we settle for Kermit, just think we have coach O and Kermit mf Davis. frick.

again, name me 3 schools that have top 15 programs in football and basketball....we have invested in coaches and assistant coaches in football, and we will be a top 10 team. I would be satisfied with a top 25 competitive team that went to the big dance every year.....kermit may be the best chance we have...Coach K, steve alford, roy willams, jim boeheim, bill self, archie miller....they are not coming to LSU.....in 1971 when they wanted to upgrade the program, they hired a no name out of north dakota.....who did fairly well in his 25 years.....kermit will do well at lsu
