is bigger than football. It’s about Leadership, Encouragement, Accountability, and Discipline. I had to grow into 7 to understand it already had the characteristics that I was striving for. To be chosen to wear this Legendary number is an honor. I’m excited, NOW THAT I HAVE BEEN PAID, to be back on the field with my brothers and go to work this season. To do it in Number 7 is a true blessing, following in the footsteps of some of the greatest players in LSU history. Greatness begins now

This is College football now.

Odd, I didn't see that in his release.

It's more likely that "I'm excited, now that I've had 2 surgeries and missed 5 games and all of spring camp, to be back on the field with my brothers."

2011 - Tyrann Mathieu
2014-16 Leonard Fournette, who, if not for Les Miles, is the most decorated back in LSU history.
2017 - Chark - shined and was a second round pick
2018 - Giles - waste
2019 - Delpit - Thorpe
2020 - Stevens - had a pretty good year
2021 - Stingley - hurt

has a pretty good track record.

The players want #7 and #18 and love the tradition. Your opinions on it mean absolutely shite.
As does yours, but it's a message board so I guess I'll continue giving my opinion.

If he didn't get paid he wouldn't be here.

Just my opinion, I'm not a fan of it. I hope this year goes without any hiccups.

I’m glad to see to KB all in and obviously he’s trying to be a leader and buy in. I just hope he can maintain that throughout the season when or if adversity hits. This means not shutting it down early if we lose a couple games.

I don’t understand keeping something in place that has totally backfired the last 6 years. More players have digressed, opted out, or got injured wearing that number than have improved themselves. Maybe Boutte will change all that and I hope he does. But the #7 tradition has been a jynx on whoever wears it since LF7 junior year. We need to stop forcing something that isn’t there.

If the number goes to the best player, its a good selection.
If it really means "leadership, encouragement, accountability and discipline", its a joke.
Give it to Mason Smith, who is deserving on all counts and he isn't threatening to transfer if not paid.
