Pretty good interview with Jordy and T-Bob.

Cliff notes: Kardell says he’s been doing Moffit’s offseason workouts and dieting. Has lost 35 lbs. Says he is still recruiting the big 5 stars to come to LSU, because he says this team is a team everyone wants to play with because it has “Swag” and is building something good.

LSU pulled out all the stops and heavily impressed the 5 Star Ohio State commit tackle and all of his family this weekend. Kardell talks to him all the time and tells him you have to be a “dog” to be with the new LSU Linemen.

They talk of the Nationwide branding LSU has become. Thomas says his new O-Line coach is legit, knows his stuff, has coached in the NFL and when he was recruited, he was taught things whether or not he came here.

He’s been diving into the playbook, watching practices, watching film and breaking down what each O-Lineman did on each play. He also says how much the offense has changed this year. (Which is pretty much why I wanted to hear the interview)

He’ll be wearing #58 because his dad wore it at LSU and he said it’s a number that is supposed to be with slimmer guys. He may or may not change it to #70 later.

As always, the verdict is out on the offensive changes. We won’t know until Fall, but it’s nice to hear it from someone who’s tasked to learn the new offense with a goal of starting as a true freshman.

I'm very optimistic about this team, but let's put a few points on the board against Bama before we start swagging.

The key with any scheme change is for the players to fully buy into it. It finally looks like thats happening this year. Yes, the jury is still out. But that is at least encouraging.

thanks for the content,

To be fair, every year we hear the offense has changed. From players, coaches, and media.

Wait - he's not Charles Thomas' son, is he?

If so I can't believe I never made that connection.

Some folks started writing off Kardell (the recruiting pundits specifically) because of his weight, but that's clearly zero issue now. He was truly a 5-star through and through. Would utterly dominate some kid at camps and loves to finish.

If he's not starting this next year (We got some great returning guys and depth at guard specifically), it would surprise me if he didn't take over for Lewis in 2020. If I'm Davis or Emery, that's the guy I want to run behind.

Not calling Kardell a liar, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

We've changed the offense the last 2 seasons, not sure us bringing in a new offensive mind and changing the offense some again should be shocking or "I'll see it and then believe it" crowd needs more affirmation.

Does anyone really think the offense from 2015-2016 is the same on we ran under Canada in 2017 or the one under Ensminger in 2018?

The offense last year was very different from the previous year - was itself was quite different from the previous year's offense.

Just sayin', the offense has been through a LOT of changes over the last 3 -4 years. Change for the sake of change isn't necessarily a good thing. I want better offensive results, I don't care what formations they come from.

LOL T-Bob and Jordy actually said they had to get this interview in before they rigged it all down shortly.

For some “changing the offense” is a euphemistic phrase meaning “having a great offense”. So no, in their minds we have not “changed the offense” since about 2007, except for one year in 2013.

It's not the run blocking that everybody has to worry about.

"Swag" isn't going to help the OL learn how to pass block without breaking down consistently.

We need 5 OL's on the same page at the same time and I haven't seen that at LSU in quite a number of years. (8 years to be exact)

The only reason for optimism this season is that I like Brady stating that they're going to use more quick developing pass plays so the OL will not have to hold their blocks so long. He's basically admitting that the OL is weak in pass blocking and they're going to try and scheme around that fact.

Hey Ed, Steve, James and Joe......how about recruiting OL's that already have a fundamental knowledge on how to pass block because they played for a high school team that threw the ball a lot; not so much of a learning curve then.

I certainly don't think they're having to "Scheme" around OL's that can't pass block at Clemson and Bama!

I love you guys who assume that our coaches are not doing this or that they have all of our problems figured out. We literally just hosted the #1 OT recruit in the country this past weekend.

This is how every summary of an interview or long read should be presented. Thanks TJ!

Easier said than done. The problem is, Louisiana high school football just doesn't have a lot of primarily passing teams.
