Has it not been mentioned that Josh Williams didn’t play a snap today?

Would Jackson have been running with the 3’s today? I was assuming Williams was our #1

The competition at RB just got a bit tougher today.

Jackson certainly has a tremendous chance to be an impact player.

I’ve been calling for it all summer but it actually seems to be coming to fruition… o/u 750 yards?

I would set the o/u at 75 yards. Lots of guys that were out will get carries in season. He did look good and exciting for the future.

Kaleb "Dalton" Jackson AND Trey "James" Holly.

Dalton Hilliard and Garry James, the Dalton and James Gang, will be reincarnated in 2023!

He had a couple of nice plays in a scrimmage. He may eventually be a contributor, but it's equally possible that he plays in four games and takes a redshirt.

This is the most likely sceanario.
He had a nice play in scrimmage, aided by some poor defense.
It’s not a game changer, but it is hopeful.

Pass protection is going to be the determining factor, IMO.

And a lot in pass pro is recognizing defenses, which I think is what CBK was referring to when he said "experience usually wins the day." But if he can get that down, sure, he could get major carries.

At 750 though, I would still take the under. And that is for any of the backs.

Heisman candidate, one highlight against 3rd team, did he high step, sending Emery back to the bench, we're 8 deep at running back, moving some to CB. Tigers loaded.

He won't start, but he'll get some carries. If he shows promise, he'll get more.

I don't know if it is lingering from last season, or just LSU being overly cautious going into this season, but Williams seems to be out quite a bit. IMO, that has pushed Cain to the #1 spot. If Williams is a go, he's No. 2. After that, there is a battle at #3. The staff didn't bring Diggs in to a crowded backfield just to sit and watch. They plan to play him. But he, like Williams, has seemed to be out a lot of camp thus far. It's the same story with Emery as it has always been. The flashes are there. But he's been wholly unreliable on and off the field. He'll get some carries, but I don't think the staff is counting on him to be a big contributor.

Unless some guys are out, Jackson probably won't get any carries vs. FSU. He'll get more carries vs. Grambling which MAY allow him to earn a few more vs. MSU.

Williams was good last season. More than that, though, he was reliable. Coaches are going to play the guys they trust. True freshman aren't always among that group.

Williams is being held out of full practice, so I think the extra looks we've seen from Jackson are the result of that. I don't think KJ is far back in the rotation, probably 2nd or 3rd, but I don't know if he's got the full scheme well enough to be a number one freshman. Maybe he does, but they usually don't at this stage. Owens at A&M was a 5 star #1 TB and even he might not be 'the guy' over there for the same reasons.

Way under. Unless Emery gets injured or we get surprise information that he's not eligible. The "offensive weapon" role will go to Emery over Jackson. The RB room will be Williams/Diggs as your every down backs. Emery as a role player, spread RB. Coaches have repeatedly said that they like the value Emery provides as a receiver. Cain as the #3 every down back if/when Williams or Diggs get "nicked." No clue what to make out of Goodwin.

Jackson has similar measurables as Emery (height/weight/40) and has shown ball control issues in camp (sound familiar?).
