Similar to Gavin Guidry and that other dude from USF. Disappeared in the middle of the night.

We just need someone to come in and throw strikes in these midweek games.

Has Guidry been shut down for the year? If he can't pitch it could be big down the road.

Chandler Dorsey is the USF guy. I was looking forward to him. Hoping it’s injury related and he’s gonna be available soon. Can’t be worse than some of these other guys. I wanna say he’s a LHP but not confident in that.

Dorsey is a RHP, and he pitched tonight.
Got the last two outs of the game.

Instead of going to ware or the other guys that walk batters what can it hurt to go to beck and dorsey instead of the other guys that walked everyone this past weekend. Primeaux has walked everything, rizy is someone i would lean on more often.

After Cowan and Evans then try rizy ,dorsey, and beck. It can't be worse

should send an email to Jay and let him know. He probably hasn't considered that.

Woods is strange to me too. He pitched 29 innings his freshman year at Bama. I know he’s not one of our top 6 pitchers, but would think he would have more than an inning at this point.

I'm struggling to grasp the fascination with Guidry.
You have a pitcher in Rizzy - that is basically a better version of him that throws harder, taller, more intimidating. We have a litany of guys that can throw in the low 90s. Is it just the hang up that he was on the title team? I honestly want to know the thought process.

Cowan is the shortest and slowest thrower on the staff but could be our best pitcher. Pitcher size and velocity are good to have but kinda overrated. Command and confidence are everything. Guidry has had both during his time here. Pretty simple.

fascination with guidry is he is a guy who has performed in the SEC for the previous 2 years. Last year a 2.59 era. Yes, we have guys with potential to be great and better than Guidry, he has come in the last 2 years and been solid out of the pen.

Currenlty we can count on Evans and Cowan to be consistent out of the pen. Rizy has had some good moments, but we need more then 3 guys. When Guidry's curve is on, he is good. And he has that attitude you want from a reliever.

So not sure why we wouldn't want a guy back who had a better era through a full year then almost all of our current staff.

He throws strikes and consistently gets people out. He's proven he can do the job for the last two years. It has nothing to do with his pro potential or his ceiling.

Yeah, it’s Rizy, but it should be Rizzy.

I've asked this multiple times but I'm wondering whats up with Dylan Thompson. He actually had a pretty good offseason and hasnt had a single appearance all year. Throws very differently than anyone else we have on the staff. Jay never talks about him unlike Guidry and others people ask about.

Woods just doesnt have it, never has here

His arm reminds me of Patrick Coogan… not quite as high on the velo, but not afraid to throw his 92 in there and see if they can hit it. Would rather that than someone dancing around the zone. Also his curve can be thrown in any count. It is a true out pitch.

Was our top reliever last season outside of Herring. Teams hit .165 on him last year, was practically unhittable.

Going into this year was his first trying to focus solely on pitching. Last fall he was the most dominant pitcher on the team arguably going 10.2 IP, 19K, 1 BB and 0 ER. They even started stretching him out more when he used to basically just be a pretty short reliever and found some success there it was being talked up he could start some games potentially. Losing him was definitely a big blow to this pen going into the season.

Velocity is not the only thing that makes a pitcher good. You ever see Cowan light up the gun for 96-97? No, nowhere close to that, but he's an EXTREMELY effective pitcher with a deadly 81mph change up and a 91-92 mph fastball that plays well with it. Guidry never had great velocity here but always has been tough to hit for other teams. You talk about why do we care about Guidry when we have Rizy? Rizy is a true freshman who is still trying to figure some things out. Guidry is an experienced guy at this point who would have been a top arm in this pen without question. Just a big asset to lose when most of this pen has been frankly plain bad to the point we'd like to use only 2 bullpen guys in games 1 and 2 on the weekend and basically pray on game 3.
