Lee was really good that year. He should have never been pulled as a starter.

He was a coward. When bama hit him he wanted no more. The next couple of passing plays he threw the ball quickly to no one just so he would not get hit. If the only other option at QB was Lee we would have been better off in a wildcat.

Best and most memorable thing from that game, and foretold the remainder of the year, that defense was something special. As good as Bamas was that year, our guys manned up against everyone in the way, including playing as hard as they could the 2nd Bama game to keep us in distance. Mingo was a flash in that Oregon game. We set the tone for that year in that game

OP is in for a rude awakening when he realizes Burrow doesn't play here anymore.

Miles and the team prepped most of the offseason for the speed of that game. That preparation built the speed that the Tiger's D showed all season. Oregon thought they could outrun anybody, then they got introduced to SEC football.

No the offensive scheme with Mettenberger was absolutely atrocious.

LSU had 2 1000 yard receivers and a 1000 rusher with Mett at QB...

and you call that atrocious?!?

With all that NFL talent, the 2013 offense was still middle of the pack and couldn’t put up many points against Bama

Yes they were no doubt... But they also let that Les Miles Offense led by Jordan Jefferson beat them at home...

Lee did suck that game, but got better as the season went on and ended up being efficient enough. He wasn't projected to start, Jefferson was. Jefferson got into his legal trouble something like a week or maybe two before that game and was out for the first half of the season. In the Oregon game Lee definitely looked the part of a qb who wasn't in sync with his receivers.

It wasn’t boring watching Les Miles open up the game running towards Oregon’s sideline while his team went to the appropriate sideline. I was there in person and laughed out loud at his goofy arse.

I can tell you from being at the game it was fricking great. Oregon fans were talking some serious shite before the game and it was like Thanos snapped his fingers and made them all disappear afterwards. You couldn’t find 2 O fans together post beat down. Was an all time great road trip.

I was there.

That 2011 defense was a fearsome monstrosity. A true juggernaut. A maurading force of nature.

Miles wasted it with his primitive and stubborn offense.

Some fans only watch the offense, and then only on passing plays.
To them, defense, special teams, inside running is unworthy of the sport.
It's the video game crowd. They think you can play real football like you play madden.

If you think an absolute beat down of a top 5 team in a nationally televised showcase game is boring, you probably should find something else to follow other than football.

I made the trip for this one and it was not boring at all. As someone else mentioned, the Oregon fans were very confident going in. That didn’t last long. And the very large LSU contingent in town let them hear about it.

Bama didn't play an offense with a pulse that year. And even though they have a decided talent advantage in every game they get lit up regularly.

I would take our '11 D over any D in Bama's history (and they have an amazing history).

You wasn’t saying that with Mett QB

With Mett. Two of the greatest WRs to ever play at LSU. And a RB that Ran crazy his first year in the pros, Miles managed to finish dead middle of the pack in both scoring and total offense in the SEC.

The theory that that year year did anything but confirm Miles' ineptitude is a product of just how horrible he was in the surrounding years

Agreed 100%. Took NFL talent at every position to be average in the SEC. All the “record setting” offense talk...2013 was a good offense but we saw what an actual great record setting offense looks like this year.

Had some Oregon fans at breakfast the next morning tell me.....they had never seen a team that good! The size and speed difference was very obvious. Great trip!!
