re: Just a reminder: ULL is still the only in-state opponent to never score a TD on LSU

Yes, there are 1000's of LSU fans there, many went to LSU
Many went to USL and nowhere, as well.

Skip quit playing them for several yrs for good reasons.
5 years because of a near brawl that broke out.
Skip was still the AD when they resumed playing each other. It was pretty heated back then.

but lots of bama jerseys all over Lafayette when LSU / bama wkend came up is a fact.
Not as many as a lot of folks try to make out, but more than there should be. That's because there are some petty buttheads here, just like there are in BR. It's not as obvious in BR, though, because there are a lot more LSU fans and the pettiness aimed at Lafayette is a much smaller percentage of LSU fans.
I still can't understand the animosity between some in the two fanbases. I try to do my part not to participate in it. I do a poor job sometimes

The obsession is overwhelmingly in Lafayette vs Baton Rouge. What’s the “Louisiana” thing all about? ULL is one of the University of Louisiana system schools, with no preferential authority to adopt “Louisiana” over the other schools. Once LSU started calling the baseball stadium “The Box”, all of a sudden ULL had “The Tigue”.
It’s a derivation of hero worship, in my view, and the very reason why ULL can’t grow…. Its alumni are obsessed with LSU over their own Alma Mater. In fact, a great number of its alumni pass it up on Saturdays, headed to Baton Rouge.
I wish it was different and that ULL would embrace its own identity, as well as their alumni would pump money into the school, like LSU alumni do. If the ULL faithful would put their money where their mouths are, it could be an awesome school with great athletics.

Not really.

Or maybe the product, in terms of Football, is just better at LSU. Also, a lot of folks who get degrees from various universities and colleges around the state do so for economic reasons more than anything else and still love LSU. That is how it was for me. I started at LSU, graduated from USL, I am now a season ticket holder at LSU; I never really developed much of a taste for Cajun football after being in the student section in Tiger Stadium.

None of the other in-state schools thinks of themselves as on the level of LSU in academic or athletic prowess overall. They recognize LSU as the flagship institution. Yet, I've heard since the 80's from folks over in Laffy how USL is on par with LSU in every facet. Give me a break.
LSU is the #103 ranked public school in the country according to USNWR.
UL is ranked #189 in public universities.
Such a huge difference.

You’re part of ULL’s problem

Seriously, the whole problem is that alumni talk but don’t spend. You’re admittedly a classic example.

I have donated to the college I graduated from.

It's not a conspiracy. The BOR member who went to LSU law school actually said it.

Y’all aren’t getting dropped to FCS. ULM on the other hand perhaps should.

in 1924, SLI scored a TD in the 31-7 loss to LSU
That is correct.
Also in 1917 the score was 20-6. I do not know if that was a missed extra point or two field goals.

LSU Basketball jerseys from 1920’s - 1930’s
LSU Baseball jerseys from 1920’s to 1930’s
LSU commonly referred to itself as “Louisiana” for many years.
More jerseys and varsity jacket displaying “Louisiana”

ULL is using retro LSU gear. Little brother wearing hand-me-downs from big brother.

USL: where people who wanted to write LSU on their college application ended up because they were dyslexic.
