Actually I don't. The fact is that college football was better when USL, NLU, NSU, McNeese, Nichols, Southeastern and Tech were all in the Gulf States Conference. They had good rivalies and competitive games. Their OOC games were against Delta State, Lamar, Sam Houston, etc.
I feel the same way about ULM or Tech as I do about ULL. This whole University of Louisiana schtick is contrived bullshite.
Major college football shouldn't have these directional schools unless there was some form of relegation for them to move up in class, That will never happen.
What we have now is a bloated FBS.
I think the G6 schools should have their own combined media rights and playoff.

"Weird obsession"? A decent guess is that a lot of this hate is from my fellow old timers who have heard SLI / SW LA/ ULLLL BS going back decades. Which is about how often their football / baseball programs get decent, every decade or so. There is a reason that Skip, who always played state schools,, stopped playing them in baseball & softball for several yrs. He got tired of their shite like we all did / do.
