In my opinion he was the best running back last year as well as this year. Don't know why he did not get more touches before the injury. The run against Bama on third down showed how hard he competes.

Fournette ran a “4.35” in high school. He ran a 4.51 at the combine.

And for perspective. If Trindon Holliday isn't the fastest player in LSU history, he is top 3. He ran a 4.34 at the combine.

Goodwin tore his ACL in like week 8. He will miss most of next year. Wouldn’t surprise me if he redshirts next year tbh

“Unquestioned starter” before signing day, transfer portal, spring ball, etc. Kind of premature don’t you think? I can buy potential starter or probable key contributor.

but if the best LSU can do is have a FORMER walkon RB as their starter than our running game will continue to be stagnant

Some guys develop later. Williams isn’t Guice or Fournette, but he is a good back. Georgia has a former walkon at QB and their passing game certainly isn’t stagnant.

Only a Sith speaks in absolutes. Trey Holly cometh. Ajay Allen perhaps cometh also.

These are some Running back stats. I think Goodwin or Emery are more likely to be the starter but the reality is we will probably have running back by committee again.

Armoni Goodwin - 5.9 YPC rushing, 5 TDs rushing, 10.1 YPC receiving, 0 TDs reecieving

Josh Williams - 5.5 YPC rushing, 6 TDs rushing, 6.3 YPC receiving, 0 TDs reecieving

Noah Cain - 5.2 YPC rushing, 8 TDs rushing, 10.1 YPC receiving, 0 TDs reecieving

John Emery Jr. - 4.7 YPC rushing, 5 TDs rushing, 10.5 YPC receiving, 2 TDs reecieving
