“If I had to go back, I’d find the best place to play college football, and then push for the NFL,” Booty said. “LSU wasn’t the best place.”

Taking the baseball money and not playing football for 5 years had more to do with his failure as a QB.

Yeah, he didn't make it in the NFL because of LSU.

WRs intentionally tanking their performance to make him look bad didn't help his cause much either.

Maybe he's saying LSU wasn't the best place because he had to deal with some extremely shitty people in the locker room actively trying to prevent him from succeeding.

If you continue to read (or maybe OP will quote it) he mentions he wishes he’d have went to LSU when Saban was there. Not really a knock on LSU.

That locker room was really bad. Even 2000 was bad. Definitely people in there that were playing to help Rohan get the job

I thought he would be the biggest jerk in person but I got a chance to meet him years ago after an LSU football game, he was very outgoing and spoke with me for a good 15-20 minutes.

I don't see any problem with his statement

I think he meant he would have went to football straight out of HS if he could do it again. And at that time LSU wasn't the best place to go.

I was in the locker room and part of the media. Definitely seemed like Rohan was more popular with the guys. Josh was viewed as an older out of touch white guy type.

ETA: I’m not saying they tanked their effort. But they didn’t go out of their way to help.

All these places werent right for him....Miami, Baton Rouge, Seattle, Cleveland.

Maybe it is you Josh. Tom Brady was a lower pick than you, and he seemed to do OK. Most guys just want A shot, Booty wants five of em

He was there for the beginning of Saban era - if he was good enough he would have started and kept the job.
He wasn't any better than John Parker Wilson.

Davey was the better option and gave the team the spark it needed to play for the SEC title a year later.
