it would appear that Abrams numbers were much better before Josh arrived. He went from 54 receptions the year before Josh to 26 and 2 the 2 years that Josh was at LSU.
Abram sabotaged Josh. End of story.

LSU wasn't the best place for Booty because he got benched for a better QB. Making the excuse that Dinardo was there when he got there is weak. He could have had three years with Saban and Jimbo, but he chose to pout and leave after one year with those two when he got benched for Rohan.

Just to be sure, you're saying the QB coaching that Booty got at LSU was on par with David Cutcliffe right? Because that's how your statement sounds.

Booty had the opportunity to be coached by Jimbo Fisher for 3 years. He chose to leave instead. Maybe if he had stayed to develop as a QB his NFL career would have gone differently.

Yeah, cuz LSU sucks at putting players into the NFL

It is crazy to think that in 1994 Louisiana had Peyton Manning and Josh Booty as high school QB prospects. And LSU's coach at the time? Curley Hallman. No wonder we got neither of them (at the time). You hire Kmart coaches, you get Kmart results.

Booty should have concentrated 100% on baseball. As a quarterback playing at any level above high school, he just did not have the necessary decision making skills.

Peyton Manning never would have come to LSU. The only reason he didn't go to Ole Miss was because they were on probation. As to Booty in 1994, not much you can do when a high school kid is offered the biggest rookie signing bonus in MLB history.

Dude could not hit professional pitching--it was in his contract to get called up to the majors every September and he always went up. He was told every year to stay down and get his at bats but he never would...he wanted to live the MLB life but not pay the price

ETA: Under Dinardo. Because that's what the Booty quote is referencing.

I'm saying if you are Eli Manning or any elite true NFL-QB starting talent, you could have been coached in college by DiNardo for a year and then Saban/Jimbo...and you would have made it to the league.

He got beat out by Rohan Davey. If he was really elite NFL/QB level talent like Manning, it wouldn't have mattered that he played a year for DiNardo. He never would have lost the job to Davey.

That's my point. LSU coaching staff turnover didn't ruin his NFL chances. He just wasn't good enough. Same with MLB and the article quoting him mentioning all those other guys who went into the majors at the same time as Booty. They all had great careers. I'm sure they had adversity to work through too.

Guy's ego blinds him to the fact that he just wasn't good enough at either sport to be elite. A great athlete by normal guy standards, but not elite professional talent.

Technically he would have had a max of two years with Saban/Jimbo, but valid point nonetheless.

He originally enrolled in 97 when he first tried to get out of his contract and that started his clock. Officially he was a redshirt sophomore when he first played in 99.

According to Peyton himself in The Book of Manning, he "probably" would have gone to Ole Miss if Cooper had not gotten ill. But I think that is just him being nice. There was never any chance he was going to Oxford. He was looking for an elite program where he could run a pro style offense to get ready for the NFL. It was very much a business decision for him, and had LSU been that type of program at the time, I think he would have at least considered it.

But anyway, we had Curley Hallman and had just gone 5-6.

Wasn’t Ole Miss on probation at the time also? No TV games?

Not to mention Davey had been with the program since his redshirt freshman season in 1997. He had 3 years under Dinardo's staff, but that didn't seem to stop him from becoming a productive starting QB in the SEC. It's not Dinardo's fault Booty didn't make it. It's Booty's fault.

Why is that? Saban and Fisher came in Booty's sophomore season. He had two more years of eligibility when he declared for the draft.

Don't think that's the case. The way I understand it, it doesn't start when you enroll. You actually have to start attending class.

Whatever he did in January 97 definitely started the clock, you can see on the rosters he was listed as a sophomore in 99 and a junior in 2000 (Saban & Jimbo’s first year).

I suppose he could have also attended class early in that semester, before having to report to camp with the Marlins. If you recall that was also the same semester Abram enrolled.

I believe Booty did not come to LSU until after Mannings career at Tenn. Booty played pro baseball then came to LsU.

Rohan is still my favorite LSU QB.

If you could put Rohan's head on Jamarcus' body, you'd have the perfect QB. Davey was a leader and had as much heart as I've ever seen in a college QB. I don't remember which game it was, but he was all busted up leading a comeback limping down the field and throwing daggers. LSU won the game because he wouldn't let them lose. I'm thinking TN or MS state in '00.

usa today player of the year in baseball and football.

couldn't hit a breaking ball or throw a spiral.

such a letdown.

greatest performance he ever had was shitting down his leg vs ga tech. benched him to bring in rohan and never looked back.
