do you not think that the short fields that the defense kept getting and no rest could have played a large part in Reed's success?

The defense literally couldn’t stop them when he came in, what difference does it make where they started on the field?

They would have scored regardless

Everyone screwed this game up. I would put it more on Nuss and the kicker. We gave them 21 points off ints and another 9 on field goals. That's a 30 point spread. And that's if the D plays like crap.

One change had to be made...that is all
One spy in the middle of the fielld who had one job, tackle Reed on every play, play fake or not, tackle him.
they didn't insert him in the game to pass. If he was their best passer, he would have started the game. He had one skill and that was running the ball. Yes, he threw on bomb that we couldn't stop with two players on the receiver, but overall, he will make more mistakes throwing than he does good throwing.......so spy and tackle the man every dang play.
Now, that wouldn't have taken much to explain , would it?
I told my wife that very thing when he entered the game, and ever she agreed with me. But no.....we are going to keep doing the same thing as if he isn't there....and that is why we lost the game.

What, no one on our coaching staff ever defended against the read option before?

It’s remarkable how many boneheaded coaching miscues continue to come from BK and his staff.
They're getting paid MULTI millions of dollars to not allow this exact kind of thing to happen in an LSU football game. (Totally unprepared for Reed)

Stop with the “they’re getting paid too much” crap. So if Kelly and staff were only making 1/8 of what they’re currently getting paid, then you’d be ok with all of this?

No, you wouldn’t be. You’d still be on here bitching and making the same stupid comments.

No one on the rant is personally cutting a check each month to pay Brian Kelly and his staff. The University cuts the checks and they are happy to do so because his program generates a shite ton of money for the school. So much so that they are fine paying him and his staff a premium for their services. This only becomes a concern for the University when the program no longer generates enough revenue to support the costs for Kelly and his staff.

It’s simple finance folks. Return on investment. An investment that the University decided to make and an investment that you had zero part in making. So stop bringing it up!

They should have just made either Burns or Atkins depending if they wanted 3 LB or 5 DBs on the field the spy to Reed. This where having Perkins would have really come in handy.

Should have gone straight Goal line defense

On Reed’s second TD drive, they got to about LSU’s 8 yard line when LSU called a shift to a run-stop defensive alignment. Several DBs came up to the box, and we were loaded to stop the run. They timed it great, too, because A&M snapped the ball about a half second later and ran a Read-Option.

Our coaches had outsmarted (or out guessed) A&M’s. The Aggies gashed us for a big run. What can you do?

I agree and texted my dad the same when he came in. Even when they had him for a loss, you also have to tackle.

Kelly’s deficiencies at game planning for big games are obvious. All you have to do is look at the last 3 openers.

e player specifically said we did not prepare for Reed to come in the game which means they didnt practice against the QB run threat all week basically.

I'm aware. They didn't prepare for Reed specifically.

But they have been prepared for similar offenses prior to this week. Its not like they haven't been prepared for it.

Exactly, as has been said, this ain't rocket science, it's offensive sets nearly every team we've played this year runs. We've seen it before, practiced it before and absolutely should know our assignments - they maybe weren't prepared for the speed and execution, but the play and the play design all that stuff.....they've seen it and practiced against that all year. The QB the week before at Arkansas is a pretty similar type player running similar type sets and we practiced and played against that just last week.

It’s amazing how well the D was prepared for Weigman. Honestly even if Reed comes in and Nuss doesn’t throw 2 of those picks, LSU likely wins.

All we had to do was score 10 and squeak out with a win. I’m starting to think part of the lack of sacks is nussmier’s inability to just tuck the ball and either run or take a sack. He just won’t do it. Those moments vs A&M he should have just took the sack and let us punt it

So if he refuses to adjust in-season, then why has our defense been better in the 2nd half of most of our games?

I think I scrolled by, but will go back and down vote it. Your comment is just cliche.

Every good coach is paid a ton of money. His record speaks for itself. His teams win a lot of games. Is he Saban? No, but who is?

They just played against a running qb the week before at Arkansas. Why couldn’t they just do what they did last week against them. Both qb’s were very similar. It’s not like we’ve never seen a running qb before.

People want to not call a spade a spade because once every 5 or 6 drives he puts together 4 good passes in a row and scores.
_____________

Nuss had his worst game yet, but this is not accurate. Look up his stats.
