From what I'm hearing, Finley is the headier one of the two and is way ahead of Johnson in the mental aspect of the game, reading defenses, reacting, etc. If Johnson can ever get his head wrapped around the game like Finley has, he could be special because he has all of the physical tools.

Can't say one way or the other if what you are hearing is accurate. Both have good size (though Finley is bigger). Finley is probably more comparable to Russell or Rohan. Big guys with strong arms, though not a ton of athleticism. Both Jamarcus and Rohan turned out well for LSU. Here's hoping the same could be true for Finley.

As far as their "understanding of the game", it is noteworthy that Finley was able to practice with the team during the playoff run. Now, I doubt he took many reps (if any). But he was probably in the meeting rooms with Burrow and co. With LSU not having much of a spring, that could be a leg up for him.

On the other hand you would think Johnson would be a little more polished coming out of HS simply because he has a father who played in the NFL for a long time. No offense to the Ponchatoula coaches, but I can't imagine Finley was able to receive the same level of teaching as Johnson.

They will? As good as they have figured out our D?

I would think that if Brennan’s injury is that serious, or God forbid is season-ending, we’d have heard something more definite by now. There’s no reason to hide it. It’s not like Muschanp has any game film on either Johnson or Finley. If Johnson is the more accurate passer, then he needs to start if Brennan can’t. I don’t care how good of a runner Finley is, our receivers are our biggest weapons. If Finley can’t get the ball to them, then we are essentially starting right out of the gate with one hand tied behind us.

E and O like a mobile QB. With limited experience a mobile QB is easier to work with because you can limit the reads to a couple levels. 1, 2, then tuck and run.

Johnson gives you more options here.

O hasn't spoken to the media since Wednesday. Zero reason to let the cat out of the bag until now. Let's hold this comment off for another hour.

With that said, a surgery is a pretty notable thing that enough players and staff would know about and would probably leak.

Exactly - and when it looked like Brennan might be out for a bit in the game Johnson was the one called on to start warming up - don't see the question here.

Not a bad thing if the QB can be an actual threat to keep it and make a play

So why didn’t Myles start the last 2 seasons?

Coach just said, both freshmen had great weeks of practice. The one that does the best this week will start. Both will play if Brennan is not healthy.

Nothin. That’s how the rant works. Somewhere along the line someone makes something up, completely pulls it out their arse, and then it becomes “I heard this...,” “sources say this...”

I think Johnson takes snaps before Finley simply because we actually have video evidence of him warming up to go in the game when Myles was hurt, not Finley.

Its ridiculous how some you guys automatically label Finley as an inaccurate QB and the kid hasn't played a single snap yep.

This board has complained about having mobile/dual threat QBs during Miles tenure and now all of a sudden you want a "Mobile" QB to start now that Brennan is injured. Its laughable... but its obvious whats going on in here.

It's pretty obvious that people on here want the kid who played in a legitimate HS system, ranked higher out of HS, and has a Dad who was an NFL qb to get the nod. Not the shite you are alluding to.

Finley has elite tools but needs time to develop them. He played on a terrible HS team that ran no real system and had poor coaching. It has also been noted many times that his footwork needs major improvement.

LOL ok. Thats why I don't share info with the rant because when you post the truth you get 100 downvotes and called a liar.
