I hope you are right. I typically reserve my judgment but I have to admit I'm disappointed. It seems like this was all a foregone conclusion. If we don't sign anyone or sign non-SEC caliber players it will be a long tough road.

Give him a chance? He might be competitive but nobody that spoke for him has any influence outside a 30 mile perimeter. Ask the average kid who the hell Collis Temple or Dale Brown is in North LA or NOLA.
Jones didn't even bring decent Texas talent. Its going to be variable. I dont know enough about local AAU circuit to make a judgement but he won't pull national.

It's all about getting players. Jones has a lot of La ties w/ coaches...if he can keep the La talent here.....and with what he had to work with a North Texas...he did a decent job there..no it's not Izzo or Coach K..but...he'll bring some energy back and want to win more than anyone else. Nobody else bigtime wanted the job, obviously. This is ok...it should be better than Trent. If he gets Randy Livingston as an Asst Coach..that will help too.

This. For all we know Gathers could end up being Storm Warren with a bad attitude. Getting him does nothing for me.

some of ya'll act like the guy hasn't done anything at north texas...I'll admit I don't know a ton about his job over there, but it seems like he had some good teams, a couple that were buzzer beaters away from tourney appearances, plenty of 20 win seasons at a program averaging like 5 wins/year before he got there
