I wouldn't get too pumped up about us handling Gardner Webb.

Let me get this straight. You are a high school basketball coach and you don't feel that Johnny Jones' criticism is warranted?

All coaches know criticism comes with the territory and are ok with it. They tend to block it out, however if you couldn't see that the D was worked on in practice, more importantly the backside help D, you weren't watching the same game I was.

Hopefully, they've worked on it from jump and I'm sure they have, it's about as fundamental a concept to playing man defense as there is.

The issue for me is it took them this long to do it with some semblance of understanding. And even then in the second half we took a step back.

I feel you brother. But like I've said all along to anyone who would listen, Victor is gonna be a HUGE piece in this puzzle.

I hope so, but I don't think so.

Well God Damn they better be working on their defense. Their defense is ranked 233 in the country.

I feel that the amount criticism is unwarranted. For any coach, I would expect some criticism as of right now. Hell, we are 4 and 4.
But it's not just that- it has been snow-balling up for quite some time. it has become vogue in the last couple of years, among fans, to cite JJ as not being an "X's and O's Coach" which is ironic because as we know that was also the label of Daddy Dale.
This is what I think to be unwarranted. All coaches are x's and o;s coaches and motivators and recruitors yada yada.

Tell me a successful coach, who isn't an 'x's and o's' coach these days?

Regardless of how you draw it up, at the end of the day the players have to make many quick, quality decisions.

I would expect this of Quarterman. I thought he would be a stud from the get-go and believe he will have a great season.

But he has been around. It will take a little time for the younger players to learn a great shot from a good shot

Like another poster stated, I'd have to spend some time with JJ and the squad to really know what is going on because it is nearly impossible to tell what is going on within the dynamic of a team

Honestly, I'm not one of the nostalgic, Dale was great folks here, but out of respect to the one's who are (and there are plenty) I try to stay away from venting my issues on Dale.
I am one of the Dale apologists on this board. Dale isn't above legitimate criticism. I was very critical of Dale at times during his tenure at LSU.

But the ignorant simple minded slamming of Dale on this board deserves to be countered with truth and facts. The "CJJ = Dale 2.0" as some sort of dig on CJJ is the worst IMO. LSU would be damn lucky to have a Dale 2.0 at this point.

I have no issues if informed basketball fans want to post legit criticisms of Dale. So feel free.

Stay strong, brother. Just remember this when we cut down nets in a few months...

Also, I have a win-win situation. I made a bet with my roommate. He said LSU will finish 13-5 or better in SEC play. If they do, I owe him TJ Ribs...if they finish 12-6 or worse, I get TJ Ribs. So I'm either getting TJ Ribs or we're going dancing.

Dude he is a good recruiter but a horrible coach!! A good coach would have gotten our boys to the sweet 16 elite last year. We should be undefeated this year. He will be fired after this season, if not Alleva will be gone soon.

Patches - you are totally wrong. Duke, UK, Kansas win with freshmen all the time! Quit making excuses.

This isn't football you don't have several years. The guy is a lousy coach. Basketball is completely different because his best player who will probably be the number one overall pick. LSU's basketball team is the most I fundamentally sound teams I think I've ever seen. The offense is just streetball, no fundamentals on defense, they don't move their feet, they reach.

You are what your record says you are. Imagine what Simmons would be doing at Duke or UNC hell Alabama for that matter

I'm aware this isn't football. I'm not saying years dude, I'm saying 10 or 20 games for these kids to find their niche.
