Practically the only RH hitter on bench. Can’t hurt

sure, but a hitting a center cut 87mph fastball doesn't tell us much.
That was my point. Anyone including Pearson who is hitting it well in conference will have a spot. And the idea that they won’t because we will just have too many other bats is just unrealistic.

John now has 7 hits at LSU. 3 of them are homers and 1 of them is a double.
It's been a really small sample size, but you could argue its even harder to hit for power with this sort of limited and unpredictable playing time. On a team that does not project to have a lot of power, it is going to be hard to keep him out of a starting spot somewhere on the field.
If he gets regular run, he could be a 15 homer kind of guy this season.
We played Milwaukee and Nicholls. Don't be like Hold That Tiger 10 who bases everything on the non conference schedule. Hell he thought Reaves would be the starting 3B last year based on his non conference hitting.

I think this team is quickly proving the exact opposite actually. LSU has a ton of power up and down the lineup. Just about everyone in the lineup except for Stanfield is capable of hitting double digit HRs. Curiel is off to a slow start but I know he will get it together pretty quick.

Curiel & Milam aren’t really power hitters yes, but I feel like Carraway is. Dude has a lot of power in that swing.

Should we wait 3 weeks to talk about LSU baseball?

I think Serna will eventually settle into backup catcher only,
Not necessarily. Sometimes, pitchers prefer certain catchers and that could happen as I think was the case last year with Arrambide. Plus, catcher is a lot of wear/tear so keeping Serna busy in the mid week games and games that we have big leads on is highly possible. It will be interesting to see how it plays out through the season and at the end of the year. You know this transfer portal thing is both good and bad.

Very interesting how the lineup will shake out against left handed pitchers.
If Dardar continues as is he’s not coming out of the lineup. That leaves just DH and maybe a rotation in left field.

You can talk about it all you want but until SEC play starts we dont know who will be the DH or who the closer will be or who our best hitter will be. Non conference games against bad teams don't do anything for me. Maybe this weekend will tell us more.

I disagree.
Sure, if his 7 hits, 3 were HRs and 1 double.
But his average is still sub .300. And I’d bet most of his ABs were against subpar talent, and/or in late game garbage action.
He isn’t bad, but he’s shown nothing to warrant vaulting ahead of the others, currently in front of him

I wholeheartedly agree. Pearson has shown flashes but IMO, I don't think it's enough to create a thread. If he's successful against better competition, we should re-visit this conversation, but until then R-E-L-A-X and enjoy the rental win.

Who is he going to play over?
This. We sure look deep this year.

The issue is that we have 12 or so deserving position players.

We are stacked with hitters. Simpson has 37 career HRs, 22 just last year and hes fighting for a spot in our lineup.
This, cant forget about Simpson DHing if Dardar has locked down 2B at this point.

It's the "problem" every year now under Jay
The dude recruits at the absolute top, and we will always have guys who wont get much action in a year because there's simply not enough AB to go around.
Ryan Costello went off to Maryland and I bet he does really well there; he's the starting 1B/DH...he could have stayed here to compete for 1B since we were losing Jared Jones, but Jay just brings in Zach Yorke and we're like, alrighty then; RELOAD
Ashton Larson to Texas, probably do well there as well, starting LF for them....he couldnt play a position here struggling in the OF compared to what we had, so he transferred somewhere to give him time in the OF...we returned our whole OF
Mic Paul went to Washington and is a starting OF for them; if Stanfield doesnt come back he could be starting OF here; again whole outfield returned for us and no spots up for grabs really
Mikey Ryan went to NC State and is starting SS for them; with us returning Milam there was no path to playing time at SS unless he wanted to compete with some top transfers at 2B, he chose to go somewhere who could give him starting SS
We are DEEP with position players and that is no different this year. Plenty of guys who can hit and play a position ultimately. We will see a handful more transfer out after this season and probably start and play well for a name team elsewhere once again. This isnt a situation where its a guy who just needs to drop down to like ULM to maybe see AB. We've got legit power conference starters riding the pine for us every year.
Look at a guy like Trent Caraway coming in here. He was getting near superstar levels towards the end at a power baseball school in Oregon St where he hit FIVE home runs in 5 games in their regional and he's placed in the bottom third of the order here
Brayden Simpson hits damn near close to .400 last year with 22 dingers and has come in here and might not be an every day player ultimately.
