The kid has had more than enough time to get his act together. How many opportunities does one need? I hate that we coddle players. These guys are getting paid now, and some of them more than a lot of us make annually. It's okay to criticize these guys now, because school is now a job.

Sure. Or the NCAA could be ramrodding him. I’d much rather dunk on them.

What are the normal expectations for a five star, top back in the recruiting year?

Compare to T Davis-Price who was not as highly ranked. Already in the League.

TDP went to a better high school for education if I had to wager.

Does it matter? Dude is still on the team and will probably get meaningful touches this year. Just think some patience on this situation isn’t a bad idea.

The bad news just keeps flowing out. I’m expecting other players to be “unavailable”. I’d be shocked if Denver Harris plays.

Is LSU and CBK coddling players?? Has John Emery gotten any special treatment? I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Does this even matter?

Can’t imagine anyone within the program was actually counting on him anyway

I hope not.

There's a difference between cuddling and coddling.

This is an accurate narrative, especially the part about him always scoring a TD against Alabama

It’s literally the same thing every season

Last season he played in 11 games. He had 504 Yard from scrimmage (5th behind Nabers, Daniels, Williams, and Boutte) on 89 attempts (3rd behind Daniels and Williams) with 8 TDs (3rd behind Daniels and Cain). He showed up a bit more than folks gave him credit for.

But it still feels like

A “5 star” with NUMEROUS chances to get his shite together and just be a cfb player. He repeatedly comes up short. Yes, he might be “retarded” in a figurative sense. IE- Trevonte Valentine, Ryan Perrilloux, etc, etc

LSU coddles every single athlete. Go listen to a few podcasts with former players and listen to how easy their course schedule is.

Special treatment? Brother, he was academically ineligible for quite a while. The fact that he is even still on the team as a scholarship player is pretty special.

Could the NCAA be ramrodding him? Absolutely. Do the recent actions of the NCAA appear to hold LSU up to a microscope and give harsher punishments? Yes. But that doesn't mean Emery doesn't hold some accountability.

John is a really down to earth kid. Really nice guy but I saw this coming when I saw him playing pickup at the urec a week or two ago. I just don’t think he has the drive to be great. It’s unfortunate but he’s going to have to get ready for a life after football
