I remember that game. UCLA scored 24 points, in double overtime. Not bad. Also, 14 of those points came off of TOs.
Remember
You are talking UCLA....
Here are the points they have been able to score...and SCORED 27 against TN....
I do not see it a good.
points against the opponent by UCLA
9/01 No. 18 Tennessee 27
9/13 No. 18 Brigham Young 0
9/20 Arizona 10
9/27 No. 25 Fresno State 31
10/04 Washington State 28
10/11 Oregon 24
10/18 Stanford 20
10/25 California 20
11/08 Oregon State 6
11/15 Washington 7
11/28 Arizona State 9
against GOOD opponents UCLA hardly scores and yet they got 27 on TN....
so that TN allowed 27 IS NOT IMPRESSIVE as a D.
not a SOLID hire IMO.

Code of conduct and a coach to enforce it and set the tone is also something that is desperately needed.
what amazes me, is that this thread has nothing to do with the head coach, yet people still sneak in and want to bash the hell out of him.

conduct is nice,
but must be able to keep the other team from scoring.

1. what was he doing in the press box
2. how much farther off the line could the db's have been?

nice.
I like what Speedy pointed out yesterday: every three years he has a good defense, the other two they suck.

I'd take those numbers every year, and LSU will win 10-11 games a year

Hmmm ... I don't like a DC up in the press box.

You can't look at the D in a vacuum, either. UT has struggled on offense and ended up ranked #110 in scoring offense. UT's D was on the field a disproportionate amount of game time due to this, their QB'ing was almost as bad as LSU's. The guy is a good D coach.

That's because Voluntards are morons and think they should win the NC every year, no matter wha..... Oh wait.

I saw that too and immediatly said, here we go again, Miles still hasent learned that LINING UP 5-15 yards away is useless against teams with the spread!
I cant stand that crap! If he brings that style here the problems will just continue and UF will murder us on the field at home next year!

With future NFL players in the defensive backfield in Demetrice Morley and Eric Berry, the secondary of Tennessee continues to struggle to stop short or long pass plays.
That fits perfectly in our current system.

I hope this is NOT true. I don't think he's that good. He would be an improvement, but I want a DC that has the players aggressive all the time. And watching his D's at UT, they never really impressed me all that much.
Solid, but not great. And I'm sorry, but that's not good enough.

I am like you, I want someone who likes several blitz packages and uses them every play. This sitting back and playing zone gets you picked apart too often. I know his D's have been good over the years but is it good enough to help compete for the big prize?
