John Brady is the logical choice to replace Will Wade

John Brady is the perfect fit to take over the basketball program. He has been there before, inheriting a program under draconian sanctions. It would be almost impossible to hire any major coach from a successful program who has been to the NCAA tournament several times, especially if there is a two year tournament ban.. Thus the only coaches who might take it would be a latter day John Brady who is willing to take on the challenge. They may hit again and get someone with at least the success Brady had, but could also wallow around and become an even more moribund program with someone over their head.

The John Brady today would enter the job without the pressure of having to prove himself. He would be more flexible and in tune with today's college basketball world. The expectations would not be great and he could essentially have a three to four year honeymoon tenure . With the right staff and effectively using the same tactics as Wade but in the form of the NIL inducements he could begin to rebuild the roster. At the end of the three year period LSU and Brady could assess where the program is going and decide whether the program would be in a better spot to hire a new coach than it is today with the uncertainty hanging over it. This would be a win for all.

If you disagree then give your reasons and your suggestions instead of the usual ad hominem attacks and sarcastic comments.

I think this makes since IF there is going to be some sort of post season ban put in place. Because if that’s true then what you said is correct and Brady could be transitional and help us stabilize things. But if there’s no ban, I think we can find someone young and hungry to take over.

I was thinking in terms of a two year ban which would be a huge hurdle to get an established coach to come here.

Like I said in 2019.. John Brady needs to be the interim coach for the tournament. Especially with this defense. John Brady knew how to coach some defense. LSU would be nasty.

He’s 67 years old, hasn’t coached in 6 years, and did nothing in 8 years at Arkansas State. I like Brady but no. Maybe if we need an interim coach but nothing beyond that.

Great idea. Lets hire a coach WE fired for recruiting a recruiting scandal to replace a coach we just fired for a recruiting scandal. Man this sounds like a great idea.

Horrible response. What do you recommend and who do you think will take over a depleted roster and looming sanctions?

Hiring someone for 3-4 years, as your post stated, is, in no way, being clear you wanted him hired in an interim capacity. It’s the opposite of that, in fact.

Yep. Brady was fired because he was a prickly a-hole during his first tenure with LSU. Nothing to do with recruiting except maybe the inability to consistently recruit enough talent aside from the Collis Temole gang.

As long as they review wade when his show cause is up I don’t care what they do in the mean time.

Someone will hire him why not us? frick the haters. Maybe the ncaa will dissolve by then.

No, I said Brady would not have the pressure to prove himself and he and LSU can determine what is the best route to take in a few years. Why hire one of these young unknowns who look good in a three piece suit at their current stop but get overmatched in the SEC and get fired in three to four years.
