Didn’t say he called a perfect game. I think the offense that is installed has all of the facets of being elite. No more of just having nuss gunslinging everywhere. Time will tell but I feel like our weapons will shine and if a defense takes something away we’ll exploit them another way

I was highly impressed with the second half playcalling.

He didn’t overthink things:
-3rd and short: QB sneak twice
-so many OCs still go shotgun there and it’s infuriating
-they can’t stop the bubble screen? You get it three times in a row until you do
-the TD to Green was a really nice play design to get him single coverage

There were some head scratcher calls last night, along with some real creative stuff.

One has to think he was protecting the new Oline and Nuss for a half. We aren’t at practice so we don’t see what he sees day in and day out.

Let’s see what happens going forward.

His play calling the last 3 drives was very conservative to say the least! Get the first downs! They were calling plays like they were scared! Way too many screens and run plays right up the middle!

I was thinking the same too last night. This is different. He now has a defensive where we can be like that on offense. We must continue to establish the run though. The big plays will come. We had one with the Brown TD , but the stripes robbed us.

and creative play calling

This was the most surprising.

Not really “trick” plays but misdirections and creative stuff can really open up the defense. He timed them perfectly and they *mostly* worked.

Reminds me of the old trickery of the 2000s

I would have lost my shite as a Clemson fan when LSU ran that WR bubble screen three times in a row.

Except the very late developing screen pass to the right side that lost 8 yards in the 4th quarter and killed the drive to seal the game. Boneheaded calls like that could be the difference between a title or no title. Hopefully these situationally poor play calls don’t cause issues.
Agree with others about the ability to adjust and commitment to running

I honestly don’t think he was calling the plays in the second half! I’m hoping he was and finally got it together but if not I hope whomever was calling the plays keeps the job.

I think everyone is finally in a position where they can trust the coaching staff to make the right decisions at quarterback. Starting Jayden his first year was the right decision. Letting Max Johnson go was the right decision. Letting Walker Howard go was the right decision. Paying Nussmeier in the off-season was the right decision. I think we can all trust now.

It blows my mind what some of the people were saying on here during the time these decisions were being made.

This so true. The WR screens did good but then we essentially mailed it in doing it to get 2/3 yards.

We gotta go for the dagger. We kept them in til the very end and got bailed out by defense

Much better than being aggressive and throwing an int. You can play conservative when the defense is good.

The playcalling was a bit better in the second half. BUT the playing not to lose on the last drive will get us in trouble eventually. When you have the ball late in the game……go win it.

It worked this time

No oc is going to be perfect in calling a game but he did pretty well. We still had some mystery things like put in Berry and run behind Chester

This. The whole scheme was to take pressure off a new OL and to formulate a run game.

The offense will open up going forward.

I’m just happy that we are showing creativity in the run game. Last year seemed like he errantly relied on having a top notch OL thinking he could just run the same zone read with tempo over and over. Glad we are running some actual different plays this year as well as getting under center. Never happened last year

ut I loved the 3 bubble screens in a row

those were not REAL bubble screens based on blocking scheme....basic WR screens is what they were.

jimbo fisher was the master of bubble screens with josh reed the GOAT.

we had a good middle screen game tho. need more tunnel screens.

we need more downfield passing.
