I don’t think he’s doing a particularly bad job in this situation. The self promotion is what I think is giving the bad optics. Just do this shite behind the scenes and shut up.

Da boy from St Martinville is going to get in a pissing match with the Super Agent from New Iberia....my money is on the Super Agent ! The top 5 people on the LSU wish list is represented by CAA/Super Agent . If LSU doesn't go with one of his clients, then he will leverage LSU to get his clients pay increase and extensions that will be in millions of dollars for each coach. He will send Jeff a XMAS card!

I don’t live in Louisiana anymore. It’s the most I’ve ever heard him speak.

I voted for him. Been a republican all my life. It doesn’t mean I can’t call a spade a spade. Landry is making it about him and not the LSU football program. I have no issues with putiing Woodward on the sidelines but you don’t air out the dirty laundry in public. Tier 1 candidates are going to be turned off by his antics whether you like it or not.
I’ve been a Republican longer than most of you’ve been alive. I was smart enough not to vote for our used car salesman of a governor.
His comments will only turn off any good coaching candidates. Nobody in their right mind would want their coaching job to be a political game. The last time he got involved with LSU football, there was an imposter Tiger driven in for like 3 minutes.
Landry is a ULL alum. He hates LSU and will do anything to destroy it.

Again, I don't think Woodward should be fired. I understand why he likely won't be retained but this is what pisses me off about LSU. This political shite is maddening. Its the one thing I wish we could just completely take politics out of. We do not need political figures or politics in sports. The Government is in debt so who in their right mind thinks a politician should be giving financial advice to institutions. If we left it up to the Government the program would be billions in debt.

Another one of the issues with these statements is, we will hire a President and then that president will fire Woodward.
But since the gov has already made these statements, the president is just a puppet for the governor and the gov is fully meddling in LSU sports by firing the AD.
If he just shut his mouth and let things play out, there is at least deniability that he directly fired our AD. It just isn't a good look for LSU.

That is the part that is maddening. I agree. Its a terrible look and it should concern everyone who wants the next great Coach at LSU. Because this shite is a complete shite show now and there will be plenty of candidates who will see this as a red flag.

Landry can't even fix a bowl of gumbo. The guy is crooked as a question mark. ALWAYS in things for himself, just like his idol.
This state will continue to be shite thanks to idiots like you and him.

man i hope so. I dunno though. I would love that and bring Heath Schroyer over from Mcneese to be the senior associate AD instead of him getting AD spot.

ummm...i dunno about that. although he is very close with heath and Rousse and mallet is going to move mountains to try and make it happen....Wade's daughter is in elementary school and they dont want to keep moving her around. He feels like NC State is a place he can win an NC at and he doesnt feel like he could at LSU(that is a direct quote from his mouth btw).
I would love it though.

this is what should have happened. all he had to do was keep his mouth shut and say
the BOS will form a committee and they will handle who is involved, I will not be involved.
then said I did not like the structure of the last contract or the direction of college footballl or the agents involved, but not my place as governor to get involved in those manners
if he did that, he could have made his feelings known while repeating a couple times that he would not be involved.

Who is yall? Speaking only for myself i don’t think it’s necessary to pry a top name from a top job, but you’re not gonna get one with incentives only but if it’s a guy from a non P4 team or a coordinator with no experience you’re gonna have to pay him to keep him, even if he doesn’t win the NC, if you fire everyone that doesn’t win the NC in 4 years that’s a good way to run the program into the ground

well we agree on all of that.
ftr i am fine with a coordinator, most teams in the top 20 are with coaches in their first HC job.

Did you guys forget about the days when LSU wasn’t spending enough? Before Saban came in and changed all that?
Missing on an HC is never great but imagine being regularly turned down over uncompetitive offers or falling behind in resources lol.
Kelly stabilized the program & we cut bait when it became obvious he had hit his ceiling and wasn’t going to bring championships here. It’s not a scorched earth situation.
