He was the offense because that’s what the coaches forced

He was the leading rusher because the best back is a walk on and the Oline is young and patch worked together.

Until they stopped him running and forced him to have to throw.

This happens when you're the first to touch the ball and call your own number most of the time.

NUSS is the most consistently reliable the program has seen, and that includes Joey Burrow (he only did it in his final season)

This has to be a troll post. I guess if you go with "he consistently makes questionable decisions," I can buy it.

Till Nuss came in and made everyone (including a safety) the offense.

William is a better ball carrier than JD. Williams just doesn't have the benefit of people not running towards him everytime he has the ball in his hands.

That’s not as endearing as you think it is. He was the offense this year bc he played like I played NCAA 14 created player with 99 spd and 40 throwing accuracy.

This season:
Williams: 532 yds 5.5ypc 6 TDs
Cain: 351 yds 5.2ypc 8 TDs
Emery: 328 yds 4.7ypc 5 TDs
Goodwin: 267 yds 5.9ypc 5 TDs

Total: 1478 yds 5.5ypc 24 TDs

That's pretty good production. The biggest issue is they didn't get enough carries to establish a consistent run game.

Being so dependent on a great running/average passing QB is great until he gets hurt.

An elite passing QB pressures the D all over the field & opens up more running lanes for the backs.

See Joey B. 2019.

Daniels was 10th in yards per pass among SEC QBs and 24th in yards per carry. Neither of those are good numbers and when you consider he handled the ball 454 times you’re looking at a ton of wasted or sub par plays for the offense.

Yep. Low YPP highlights short passing game with relatively few deep balls.

Low YPC factors in the number of sacks taken, at least some of which were due to holding the ball too long.

Not hating on JD, just digging into the numbers.

43 sacks when he held the ball longer than any SEC QB is not a positive for the QB either. It’s not hate for JD it’s just way too much for a QB of his level to shoulder. 454 plays is way too much for a QB like Daniels.

Make a list of all the successful teams in the modern era where the QB was the leading rusher.

It will be a very short list.

Cam Newton is the one that jumps out at us.

Why wouldn’t you when the defense is selling out on a goal line hand off? That shite would have been great to have on the 4th down against Georgia
what about the times the defense doesn’t sell out? And instead of giving it to your RB while the red sea is parted, you pull it and run into a brick wall and get strip sacked?

Meanwhile, all of nuss’s interceptions were in opponents territory except one against southern. He takes decent care of the ball up to mid field, he’s just a gunslinger when he’s sniffing the end zone. Give me the qb who’s turnover has the same effect as a punt.

You mentioned strip sack. That’s ironic, because I specifically remember a strip sack against Georgia…

Also funny that we are talking about Nuss’ multiple interceptions when he hardly played.

You hit the nail on the head. Turnovers really don’t matter when you’re throwing the ball.

Cam Newton also averaged 10.7 yards per pass and threw for 30 touchdowns.

Another caveat, he hadn't been starting for 3 years prior to that season. Like Burrow, when he got the opportunity, he took advantage of it.

Daniels has now been a full-time starter for 4 straight years and is basically the same exact level of passer as his freshman year.
