The problem with your argument is even if he is rolling when the safety breaks there’s no pressure so he can easily stop and let it fly.

Look, I'm not saying it's not possible, but it's not as clear as the shot after the DB loses his footing makes it seem (and by that point, JD is already rolling left and the window is closed).

But it would take a really great throw and JD isn't the type of QB who is going to attempt that throw. He's just not. Some QBs are too risk-averse and JD (at least on LSU) is that guy.

We should never be running crossing routes 30 yards down the field with JD as our QB.

This I agree with. Also we have 7 blocking 4. I can see the TE or RB chipping and releasing, but keeping both in to block left 3 WRs vs 5 DBs and 2 LBs spying Daniels.

My guess is the point is to max protect so we can run deep routes, but if Daniels won't throw, what's the point?

So are most college QBs. Somehow y’all convinced yourselves that every college QB but ours sits in the pocket and goes through 4 progressions every play. There are very, very few of those.

And I don’t even agree that Daniels is currently a 1-read guy. He appeared to be early in the season, but he’s done a much better job of staying in the pocket and going through his reads. His problem is not trusting what he sees and just letting it go. It’s like he’s got the yips and there’s a disconnect between his eyes and his arm, and he literally can’t allow himself to throw it anywhere that’s not wide open.

I meant to bring this up, too. The only reason we had a clean pocket was b/c of only 4 rushers and vanilla angles/gap control.

If UTenn had brought pressure that play it would have been a huge loss. Even if they did that stunt that had been so effective.

Jayden will not change, folks. He is what we have all seen.

Tried to make a thread about this a couple weeks ago. Modern CFB offenses are 1-2 reads post-snap and then a scramble drill.

People need to go watch Burrow in 2019. Dude was making plays all the time after the actual routes weren't productive.

Agreed. He holds the ball b/c he's scared to make a negative play. This isn't how he played at ASU and I have to think this was a major part of offense install by Denbrock/Kelly. They run conservative offenses, generally, so it wouldn't be shocking.

He’s a fourth year STARTER. What’s he afraid of? Totally absurd.

I think everyone in the stadium saw that play & wanted him to throw it to Boutte.
He didn’t. Oh well, he missed a play.

What if he threw it, but missed him by 10 yds?

I get so tired of these threads where you point out 1 play like it would’ve made a difference.

If you use the espn app you can select the sky cam feed. It'll piss you off watching from behind the qb. People running pretty open most of the time. I know it's different if people aren't trying to demolish you but there are opportunities.

A far superior way to watch the games now in my opinion. You can see things develop and can get much more of an appreciation for good qb play…..or you can clearly see when it’s terrible. Also, no commentators. Just the stadium PA. Much more authentic. If I could watch every game tgat way I would.

More than one play. O line isn't the problem.

Two got spacing. Plenty enough to make a through. The play was good enough. The guy throwing isn't.

Jayden could have the 2019 offensive line and he would still struggle to pass the ball down field. He is very one dimensional.

Well the coach and former NFL QB breaking down the tape said he needed to throw it soooo…….

But really though, even when that safety was backpedaling, K essentially gets even with him. The old saying if you’re even your beat. There’s no way a safety is gonna be able to open his hips and turn and run with a sprinting WR.
