He missed multiple wide open receivers on his bail out running…he played well but there is room for improvement

I laugh at these people saying JD will get crushed in SEC play. he can extend plays and make plays with his legs if he has to. Will get better keeping vision while he runs but I saw improvement from last game I don't care who we are playing. He will be ready for Miss St and Nuss showed why he isn't ready yet. still trying to force plays when he doesn't have to. has great arm but needs better decision making skills and missed many open receivers.

If anyone thinks that JD will scramble this team to a winning season in the absence of an effective passing game, he is delusional.

JD has limited vision.

This. He improved from week 1 to week 2 but he's still looking to run way too early and missing wide open guys.

He's one hit away from being done and he isn't going to be able to scramble his way to victory.

We have too many good WR for him to miss them so badly in exchange for a hard earned 10 yards via his legs.

Hopefully he improves in that regard as he gets more game time in the system. He’s clearly our best option.

Again, his WR's do not help him out when he is in scramble mode. In the Fla. State game and in Southern game, once JD breaks the pocket his receivers never EXTEND their routes.

I saw this on a few occasions against Fla. St. and also multiple times against Southern. What I've noticed is once LSU WR's finish their routes they stop and stand around looking at JD scramble instead of someone extending the route going deep. Therefore, this leads to JD having no other option but to tuck and run the ball. The coaching staff should teach that to this group. On any scramble, there should be multiple options, 1 deep, and 1 mid-range available.

Watched first half of Miss. State and Arizona....Daniels will give State a problem with his running ability and scrambling.

agree, needs quick routes and maybe an RB leaking out to the flats for check down.

I have stated that very thing previously. It is implicit in my recent statement.

Daniels improved from game one to game two. Lets see how he is playing at the end of the season before passing judgement. As his OLINE improved, his vision will improve. He was going through progressions.

And no picks. He only throws to wide open spaces. He does not know his playbook

That's what we're all waiting on. It's both encouraging and frustrating at the same time.

Now we’re criticizing the QB for not turning the ball over?

That’s not gonna cut it when we hit league play. Once teams have the ability to compress the field with better man coverage they’re going to commit a couple of guys to Daniels and that will be that.

If teams run straight man (even with 1 spy-helper) against JD he's going to tear them up.

They'll have to run soft-contain on the edge and commit 2 guys to spy, which will give him time to hit guys deep, assuming Denbrock can scheme guys open

Perhaps he just needs to complete enough passes to keep them relying too much on containing him? Obviously the more passes the better but hopefully it’s not too much of a stretch to complete enough to draw the D back more?

I just hope he stays healthy. He wasn't my original choice for the QB position but I am always for what works best for the Tigers. As much as I loved Brennan, he would be getting killed with this offensive line. You almost have to play your best runner to have a chance.

Completely correct Tom... only conclusion as to why Brennan did not beat these two out is that Kelly was totally commited to a running QB or they knew their QB would have to run (for his life).

Still, the amount of time receivers are running open and JD can not find them is alarming. As long as that happens, he will always be "run first".

Daniels is averaging 7 yards per carry. I will gladly take that every time he runs. He’s obviously picking the right spots to run with a high average like that

That should leave some receivers open.

Which is the point of this thread, he will miss them if he puts his eyes down to run
