Someone made a good point on Twitter that Nussmeier actually gave him the number and he won't even allow someone else to wear it.

come on man. Daniels was never invested in LSU, certainly nowhere near Burrow. I don't think Jayden has been back since he left that I can recall. Maybe that first spring game after he left.

Jayden seems way too chill to go to this level over this. I get being a little disrespected of disgruntled. I honestly don't think anyone should be wearing #5 but to take it public like this and send a cease and desist letter?! What a clown PR move.

9 isn’t even officially retired, and Burrow would be more deserving than Daniels considering Burrow won the Heisman plus a national title, damn near every other award possible, broke every single season passing record, and was the leader of arguably the best CFB team of all time.
Retiring numbers in college football is stupid considering you already have some numbers being worn by 2 players on opposite sides of the ball.

Jeff Hayes wore number 5 for the redskins and won a superbowl. Daniels should be tarred and feathered for even thinking he was good enough to wear that number ever again. He should have considered wearing number 17,186.
