Of course, but it’s not an either or scenario.

Better than if they were slow.

If you feel like you can make that statement definitively, you are too dumb for me to continue.

I think being an accurate passer is more important than straight line speed

Is there anyone in this thread that doesn’t believe that already?

Absolutely one can make that statement. What QB would be better if he were slower?

Tom Brady is much slower than Lamar Jackson, one of those QBs is obviously better

But which of the two would be better if they were slower than they are?

Shaq was a better basketball player than Steve Kerr. That doesn’t mean shooting ability isn’t a benefit in basketball.

Considering the fact that Lamar Jackson’s top speed clocked was 15 miles an hour, all I can say is DAMN!!

I feel stupid for even fact checking this because it’s obvious JD isn’t 40% faster than Lamar Jackson… but it is interesting lamar Jackson’s fastest speed in an nfl game is 21 mph also

When evaluating the tools that make a successful quarterback, max sprint speed is so far down the list it's practically immaterial.

John Rhys Plumlee says “hold my beer and Watch this”

Yeah, anyone mocking this needs to remember what Ole Miss did to our defense in the 2019 game. And to plenty of other teams that year.
Now, imagine that guy having even average passing ability (Plumlee didn't).

The first couple times he rips off a 15+ yd run on a scramble, the defense is going to adjust heavily, to avoid getting embarrassed. Possibly 8 guys in the box, and limited blitzes (going to try to contain him inside the pocket, not flush him).
You start treating the QB as a dangerous runner, what does that mean for Boutte et al? Single coverage, and some time to run routes.

Remember how somebody said "all his deep balls were to guys 4-5 yds open"? That's what happens when defenses do this.

I am having a lengthy argument with a clown on fb who says 4.5 is not elite speed for a Qb.

a few. Some tend to run before exhausting all passing options.

Impressive until he meets an SEC linebacker Headon. Who gets up after that? Too skinny to be running around in the SEC and last more than a few games.

Yes, we should have slower QBs so that their impact with a LB 3 yards down the field is less than Jayden's impact at 7 yards down the field.

We should frame this thread with a little engraved placard underneath that says, "See, the Rant will find anything to argue about."

When your OL is questionable and your QB is thin, I’d rather he be fast than slow, so it’s at least a little bit important.
