It’s nice to have two quality quarterbacks who are team players, making each other better while working together towards a common goal.

Daniels has spoken out on how wants to help Nuss and Collins improve their game and ultimately become a better QB than him. And in this new era of the transfer portal, Nuss is an anomaly patiently biding his time when he could have easily bailed to another school and be starting right now.

Both of these guys are class acts dedicated to this team. The present and the future of the QB position are in very good hands.
quote:

Me and Nuss, we have a tight relationship. I want to help out Nuss and Rickie Collins. I want to help those guys reach their ability faster than I did to be the best that they can, and I want them to be better than me at LSU.

Agreed. Kid has been absolute class the entire time he has been here. He is also elite running the football. He has a chance to really put it all together this fall if he has the offense mastered and lets it fly.

Nuss knows he's the next man up, and he can also see what Kelly is building.

That's better than an unknown somewhere else.

Nuss also knows he’ll have three all-American lineman blocking for him next year.

Even if someone disagreed with him starting I don't think anyone actually hated him. He absolutely gives his all and is a class act. No reason for anyone to hate him.

Being a dumb person which more than half of any fan base is by definition, and then being overly frustrated often manifests itself as hate.

Watching a QB who you’ve seen ball out, randomly go through phases where he just WILL NOT throw the ball is very frustrating.

But i have high hopes that he will be good JD and not bad JD this season.

Agreed! They both seem like they genuinely want what’s best for LSU

I’m really optimistic about this offense. Returning senior leader who is dual threat and a good backup QB. Terrific O-line. Amazing receiving corps. Great TE’s and stable of studs at RB.

Defense, however, has me nervous but I think Smith and Perkins will hold down the front 7 just fine.

I try and shy away from hyperbole, but next year’s OL could be the best in recent history.

Because they think every quarterback we get is supposed to look like Joey B

This, and I’m impressed with the patience of Nuss. It’s becoming more and more rare. Our quarterback position is lined up perfectly for next 3-4 seasons.

Yeah, but when you know the keys won't be given to you until your junior year assuming good health, that unknown is still tempting if it means you're on that field starting.

What makes it so commendable is you could probably count on both hands the number of top 50 teams that are fine with who they have at QB, while the others that would kill to have him as their starter. Hell, Georgia and Alabama would welcome him with open arms. Alabama was ecstatic to get Tyler Buchner of all QBs in. There's not much of an unknown at either of those two schools.

That's loyalty this kid has. It was something I noticed all season last year, Nuss was always the first one out there to congratulate JD when he scored, probably knowing in the back of his head that could/should be him if he was elsewhere. If I'm an NFL GM, guys like Nuss and Drake Maye shine in my eyes for not going anywhere when nearly every other QB does.

I know it helped us since we have JD at the helm, but that's an Arizona State team that basically chased him out, hated him, had his own teammates take his shite out of his locker when he left. And now he's here beloved (by most), leading us to a win over Alabama in his first year and has us in national title contention. It would be damn near impossible for Kelly to ask for two better guys to get a fresh start for this team in a cutthroat conference like this one

I've never seen any hatred on here wrt JD.

The fact that he was not hitting open receivers, and not ever putting the ball into contested coverage is a topic that is the reason this board exists.

Why do some people think this is supposed to be kiss-arse room>

I have always loved the kids competitiveness and running talent. That he was not perfect at the QB position in his first year is not a below the belt criticism.

This is what the board is for.

I am really proud that Nussmeier appears to be willing to bide his time.

Bc a lot of people unfortunately expect every single QB to play like 2019 Joe Burrow when that was a once in a lifetime situation for not only LSU, but college football in general.

That's kinda my point. Nuss is smart. He's been 2nd team for 2 years now, throwing to the receivers that will be 1st team with him in 2024. He knows that offensive line is going to return 3 or 4 starters and some veteran backups. He knows how good those young RB's are, and he's seen how Kelly has rebuilt that TE room.

From his point of view, if he just buckles up for the ride this year and keeps his head to the grindstone, he'll have a great offense around him next year.

He could transfer a lot of places, but there's no guarantee that he could start at any place with an offense as good as what he'll have here.
