I sure hope he is not the number 1 overall pick. Much better situation in Washington than Chicago right now.

That’s what people said about Burrow and the Bengals, but he had them in the Super Bowl in year 2.

Its not like Washington has been great to Quarterbacks either.

Is it? Difference between those two teams seems negligible at best, Bears still have a treasure chest of assets to work with. They also pick 9th in this draft and have fields as an asset to flip for more

Washington has cap space, but that’s not as effective to adding wins as draft picks are. And the bears have plenty of that as well

I think people are forgetting the bears have the first overall pick because they got it from Carolina, they weren’t the worst team in the league last year, not even close

Would love a team like the Rams to trade up and snag JD

I agree to a certain extent but Chicago might be different. The Bears have been drafting QBs my entire life and they never work out. This is spanning multiple coaching staffs and GMs. They had the most success with Rex Grossman of all people so yeah, I don't want JD5 to have to play in Chicago. Let Williams go play in that wind. Hopefully JD5 lands on a team that plays indoors.

I remember as late as the end of the season JD being +7000 to go #1 overall in the draft. 70:1 payout is massive.

Williams was a massive favorite. Definitely was a ton of value there to bet JD.

ETA just checked odds. Williams still a huge favorite @ -1600. JD up to +2500 though which is still 25:1 payout if you’re so confident JD could go #1

The knock on Williams is that he doesnt look underneath and constantly tries to make spectacular plays.

Sure it gives you a high ceiling. It also leaves a lot of questions.

Jayden may move up to the top pick because there’s chatter Caleb and his father don’t want to go to Chicago. He’s from DC so maybe they want him back home where his dad can call all the shots.

Would Washington be better?

My worry with JD is that he becomes RGIII. He’s too hard on his own body.

Again plenty of recent examples of other teams with way worse history in those areas over that time span, including Washington. And plenty of recent examples of those teams quickly turning it around with a good draft or 2 and a solid young QB. Every team has a bad hit rate with QBs, it’s the name of the game.

Washington has gone through way worse turnover, QB play, and mismanagement than the bears have during that time span. Every team who picks in the top 5 is going to feel like an impossible situation, because that’s what got them the top 5 pick. The NFL is known for one thing and that’s parity. You can get up just as quickly as you got put down.

They have made shitty decisions in the draft at the QB position. Trubisky has proven to be a bust. Fields was overrated coming out of college and has proven it, not to mention that he is a headcase.

Actually I think it’s the opposite. The Bears have offensive weapons & a defense. Washington isn’t working with much except a few offensive talents.

As an LSU fan, I would love this. I promise it has nothing to do with me taking the +3500 odds a few months ago on that scenario.

In all seriousness, the Bears could very well be behind the smoke to help with their negotiation with Williams.

He 100% phoned it in the end of both this year and last when they lost a couple games. Jayden busted his arse to improve himself and his team. Could have easily called it a career after the Alabama game this year.

He relentlessly and openly made fun of the TCU QB for tearing up after the NC Game.

Then cried multiple times this year.
